TIME TRAVEL 500 YEARS INTO THE PAST?

or

TIME TRAVEL 500 YEARS INTO THE FUTURE?

MY ANSWER:

Future! Even though I feel like the world would be incredibly dire and probably not very habitable...I am still very curious about what life for humanity would be like! Also, something to consider for people choosing past....imagine the SMELL of travelling back to the past. Overcrowded cities with unwashed citizens roaming around, throwing their waste into the streets....no thank you!

Future all the way! I wouldn’t go back before antibiotics lol

Delivery for I.C. Weiner 😁 It's the future for me

Easily future. I can read about the past but we have no idea what the year 2523 will be like!

Another tough question, i'm going to go past- I love to know why things happened. (this was a 51/49 spilt, so maybe next week it would be the other way).

Ummmm... if I have to stay there; the past. If it's a quick visit; the future. As a medieval reenactor, the past appeals more. I feel I'd be more valuable to society in the past (unless I bring back a population decimating virus!)

Nick

Are we talking permanently or for a short visit? I assumed short visit, in which case definitely future. Permanently traveling to the future would be miserable I think, especially since I suspect that you'd be the only human left 500 years from now. If anything descended from humans is around, it will be unintelligibly more advanced I think, but I suspect we will be all gone. Going back to the past though, you could change the course if history, and avoid some of our mistakes. Specific ones would probably be hard to avoid without causing others - e.g. I imagine the world doesn't have to change very much for Hitler to never rise to power but some equally awful thing to happen instead, but I think we could easily prevent others, like climate change. I think you'd stop noticing the smell in the past very quickly - if not, people back then would have done more about it sooner. Idrally you'd go into the future then past I think, but I think 100 years might be better than 500.

Your answer is intriguing. Idk how the world will look 500 years from now. Will it be habitable? I'm with you saying probably not. Overpopulation, wars, diseases, pollution etc, etc. The best hope is that we somehow get off earth and colonize Mars or something. Spread out our population so we don't destroy the earth. But you also say something about the past. Yeah the cities will be dirty.... but the forests will be untouched. Animals in abundance, nature flourishing. Huge woods, forests, meadows, streams and lakes! ALL untouched by mam still. 500 years ago the American landscape was still pretty much unexplored and unmolested by man. I would go to Alaska. I'd convert an 18 wheeler into a time travel vehicle so I can bring as much useful tools with me (I'm cheating BUT you never specified what I can and can't do!🤣) and I'd settle in my lil Alaskan valley. Build me a cabin and live out the rest of my days writing and drawing about my home. Living off the land. In peace 😊

Misread the question as *fifty* years either way so I voted the past. Seventies would be tolerable, imo Changed answer after I reread it and realized I wouldn’t last an hour in 1522

I'm part Black. Enough said.

I don't really want either of these... If I really had to pick, future because the past sucked ass. Honestly, rather travel back to when I was younger and give myself lottery ticket numbers.
