Hey kings and queens! How are you all?

So a lot of you are missing the Monthly Favourites videos, especially the movie reviews. So I thought I would do these little quick 'on the fly' videos so you can still get your fix! (Should I just do movie reviews or reviews on other things?)

Today's film in question is 'Oppenheimer' directed by Chris Nolan.

Have you seen this movie yet? Let me know what you thought of it in the comments!

Aaaaand, if you liked this video and want me to do more like this then comment a 💥 in the comments!

I refuse to watch that movie as someone who is part Japanese. A documentary is one thing, but a dramatization of the creation of nuclear weapons is just tasteless as far as I am concerned.

If you want a look at the devastation from the Japanese perspective, watch Barefoot Gen (1983). Fair warning that it's absolutely unflinching and it will devastate you emotionally

💥 Loved the review and style. Yes please do Barbie. I will not be seeing Oppenheimer for personal reasons. Unlikely to see Barbie in the cinema, pink does no suit me lol. But may catch it later on streaming.

I'm so excited your doing this!!! Review movies, TV shows or just have a ramble about whatever you please. I'm up for anything😁👍 I've not seen it. The weekend it came out I went and saw the new Mission impossible movie and YOU'VE GOTTA GO SEE IT! It was awesome AF! But my brother keeps saying I should see it. And I mean I could but... damn near 3 hours long... oof! Not a big fan of 3 hour films. Idk if I'll go see it or just watch it later. I'm aware of what it's about tho! I've watched a few documentaries on the making of the A Bomb. I remember back in middle & high school we discussed the decision of the US using the atom bomb on Japan to end the war. And my answer THEN (as a younger naive teenager) was of it was justified because it saved American life's. Buuuut now... I wouldn't be so quick to answer. YES it saved American life's but it killed hundreds of thousands of Japanese life's, instantly and then from radiation afterwards for decades. I personally am not pro A bomb now. It's too much power to end life's, too many life's. And cause unbelievable amounts of destruction. And I believe if a Nuclear bomb were used like that today it'd be a war crime! Immediately it would be condemned as a war crime. BUT I do wonder🤔... is it still a war crime if a NATO nation uses one? "History is written by the victors" And so are the rules.

It was very much a Nolan film as the score permeated every scene, it felt like I was rewatching Inception or the Batman films. The realism was my favorite part from the Trinity test to how toned down his hallucinations ptsd were. Upsetting he was ridiculed for voicing his concerns afterward just because he was responsible for the weapons creation.

I would love to see more review videos like this from you! And don't just limit yourself to whatever's in theatres, I'd like to get your opinion on some classic Mann films, or maybe Friedkin... I think I will sit Oppenheimer out tho. Big fan of Nolan, but it sounds like he took a whole project that involved hundreds of thousands of people, from uranium miners in Northern Canada to the physicists to the US military to the pilots to the Japanese targets themselves and just boiled it down to 'this one guy said a catchphrase and also felt sad'. Nothing really matches the raw power of footage from actual, real-life tests anyways.

Love this style of video! Would love to see more
