A new style of video for ASWT here - but discussions around representation are just as important when they are had off camera!

Also, we're just super excited!

Louise Poole 🍂

Having the WORST day, thank you guys for uploading this, gives me something to look forward to later! 💕

Mildred Locke

Ooh I hadn't seen this had come out so I experienced it for the first time with you - so exciting! One thing I will say, as someone who's read all of the comic - it's clear that season 3 is going to be the last one. The fact that they're at the summer fete, and one of the shots of Tori grabbing Charlie and pulling him off to the side - that's a scene that happened at the end of the most recent volume - they've skipped waaaaay ahead in the timeline, so we may not be seeing a season 4, or if we do, it'll be focused solely on the final volume (6) that's not out yet. A little bummed that so much is being skipped over, but also it makes sense. As much as I want more more more Heartstopper, the actors will definitely want to move on from it - they've been doing it since they were teenagers and they've found all this fame now. All beautiful things must come to an end :')

Caitlin Douglass

I think you have to re-watch that and pay close attention for some more insight otherwise I love watching these little clips, I get to be giddy and excited along with you.

I think you shouldn't be too worried because they cover Volume 4 and 5. Alice Oseman has already stated various times that if Netflix gives the okay for a fourth season it would be Volume 6 and Nick and Charlie. The fourth season depends on Netflix.

Louise I hope things get better for you. ASWT, without them realizing it, has helped me through some pretty difficult days as well.

alice

Love this new feature/format! 😆 October feels soooo far away

Diane Furlong

Thanks for this guys! October will be here before we know it

lisa mcarthur

this season i think it going to be a lot of emotional and this season will be cover volume 5and 6 and i think also this winter as well and i cant waite to see your reaction on this comeing season and i cant waite to see your rest of your reaction on young royals season 3 i hope we dont have to waite to long

Gina Lipkin

Hi, thank you for the cheery interlude, I'm feeling a little stuck as I've got a fractured knee after half a knee replacement and my work is not easy, need some uplifting joy in my day

Dionne Lakey
>>133048812

It's volume 4 and 5, volume 6 hasn't been written/drawn yet, but we're hoping for a 4th season renewal for that final book.

Dionne Lakey

Don't be worried about the ferris wheel. It's not love simon-ey in it's execution. You will be pleasantly surprised I guarantee it.

karolina tersa

since i know exactly WHAT will be happening in this season, i can't wait to see HOW they will portray it. in beach scenes - i wasn't sure if i like it. but now, the feast- looks better than i've imagined. but waiting until october sound excrutiating :/

Chris Metzger

This is an exciting new chapter for ASWT! So does this mean we'll be getting reactions to interviews with queer actors about their queer projects? I've seen some on my own with the casts of Heartstopper, Young Royals, Fellow Travelers...etc, that have been really, really good. I'm really excited for this new season of Heartstopper. October will be here before we know it. I'm afraid this season is going to be a lot darker than what we've become accustomed to with Heartstopper, but we'll get through it!

Suze

Trap some gays in a floating chair and love will happen 😂

Suze

The problem with it getting too steamy is that it bumps the age rating up and that stops the younger queers being able to see themselves.

Rosie Carlisle

Yay for announcement! Although pleeeease try and avoid the spoilers in comments this time cos I think Alex knew half the major storylines for season 2 ;)

Hannah Howden

Ahhh I can’t wait, this story means so much to so many people, you guys will have to read the comics at some point

Jenny Lukan

My guess is the October release is giving Alice time to finish writing Volume 6, which will be used for Season 4, along with Nick and Charlie.

karolina tersa
>>133047346

i've done some simulations on what could episodes include, and i don't think there will be much omitted (except the solitaire, i think it will be only slightly touched here)

Sara Nissen

Will be looking forward to October, lets see how much darker it will be, as I have a feeling it could be, but maybe not too steamy, so younger audiences will still be able to see themselves in it, as it has also been so far, but so far they have done a great job, so not really worried.

Louise Poole 🍂

Just watched! One of my main takeaways from the last few videos is that Alex loves grand romantic gestures but hates public proposals and ferris wheels. I hope all the suitable men out there are writing this down 😂

Andrea Kammerer

Love this! Also - Dan Levy did the ferris wheel in Good Grief too:)) Would love to see your reaction to more interviews and discussions around the content you already have on the channel! There is this awesome interview focused on representation with Matt Bomer and JB I think you would love: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f98AA2giw70

Cole

The good thing about Season 3 not being released until October is that it gives Alice a bit of time to chill. For Season 3, she was both drawing Volume 5 of Heartstopper and writing the script simultaneously. This time, if renewed for a 4th (and final) season, Alice has time before October to work on the final volume of the graphic novel (Volume 6), so it will lessen the workload a bit, hopefully! Alice has been pretty much nonstop working on Heartstopper as a graphic novel since 2016, and a TV show since 2020, all as the sole creator and writer, so this will be a much deserved little breather for them!

Yea but they way they did it in the comic was pretty PG so if they follow that over you would get more of the discussions leading up to any intimacy and less of the visuals. That might keep the rating low and also provide further representation especially around discussions of boundaries and comfort. I am interested to see how they play it

Sue Porter

Loving this new feature! Looking forward to more Hs in the future with your thoughts and views. With this new format and the options for queer artists to deliver outside the medium, is there an opportunity for you guys to interview some of the queer artists yourselves and discuss? Just a thought.

>>133052816

yeah but tbf this season is expect to get a lot more mature in many ways, cause it’s also about growing and maturing with the characters

Jamie

I am sort of hoping they touch on sexual intimacy and how being naked can affect that when you have an eating disorder. I have food issues, the same as Charlie, and at my lowest point, I DID NOT want to be intimate at all with my girlfriend or more specifically naked. I watch Charlie being cold and covered up all the time and I think "That's me" (even though he's much much younger than I am) because I am always covered up. Even now that I'm much better than I was (I've put on some weight), I still struggle every day and I'm always in a sweatshirt/hoodie if I can get away with it. Or long sleeves if I can't. I still struggle with being naked also. I will sit around in my house naked sometimes, but usually, I get disgusted and it ends as fast as it began. And forget about letting someone else see me naked with the lights on... NO MA'AM. Not even just sexual intimacy either. They can just be at the beach and have Charlie not have his shirt off and someone asks why, that would be cool too. These days, I look like Wednesday Addams (from the movie) if I want to swim. LOL.

Gina Lipkin

My heart is warmed up from the ending scene in young royals, the best happened for love and happiness ☺️

Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm optimistic that if the TV show remains faithful to the storyline in the web comic, this aspect will likely become a significant part of the narrative in either season 3 or 4.

Chris Mackenzie
>>133070048

While the series has been leading up to themes of mental health, eating disorders, and similar topics, I anticipate they will handle them with more circumspection than darkness. And with respect to Kit’s comments about sex, if they are faithful to the comic, I think the sexual exploration will be appropriate.

Chris Mackenzie
>>133060384

I really hope they include content from Nick and Charlie; that storyline could easily fill a season on its own, if not just a few episodes. I also hope this means we'll get more than the eight episodes is the usual.

Chris Mackenzie
>>133052816

I appreciate your point, but I believe that if they needed to raise it to an M rating (recommended for 15-year-olds and above in Australia), to covey the themes of that of the comic it would be appropriate.

I resonate so much with this. During the worst phases of my ED I would try to never see myself in the mirror after showering and I absolutely HATED people taking pictures of me, especially if I wasn't aware of it. Even taking off my hoodie in front of my best friend became impossible. These days I'm doing a little better but I still avoid catching a glimpse of my reflection when I pass by a store window. I trust Alice to find a way to incorporate it into the show. On another note: I'm so proud of you for trying to get better and I hope you can feel comfortable in your own skin again soon! Take care! ❤️

Valerie Duval

I'm not queer, I'm an ally. And your discussion at the beginning about a queer actor's role continuing outside of their job and roles made me wonder. What do you think of straight actors portraying queer characters (such as Nicholas Galitzine, whom I absolutely adore)? I know there is some debate on this, just wondering what your take on it is. Are you okay with it if they're the best choice for the role and if they're an ally minimally? Or would you rather queer roles be played by queer actors?

Jamie
>>133127917

I can relate to this as well. I absolutely hate having my picture taken. I will cry if my friends take mine without consent. I’ve literally walked out of places because one of my friends snuck one (I have one friend that likes to take pics of everything). I will take pictures of myself but it takes me two hours to find one that I don’t hate and want to cry over. I also avoid mirrors. I comb my hair (what hair I have, it’s short) by looking at my phone screen while it’s off. I know it doesn’t sound like it but I am doing much better with a lot of work. I’ve put on some weight during the pandemic which I’m still trying to get okay with, but I’m a work in progress. Thank you for saying you’re proud of me. It feels like no one is sometimes. I’m proud of you as well. We got this!! ❤️

Greetings All! Loving the channel Just wanted to teach everyone how to stop Hiccups in less 30 seconds. Do NOT exhale throughout this process (unless, of course, you're about to pass out). Take a deep breath and hold for 5 seconds, inhale more and hold for 5 seconds, inhale more and hold ... you get the idea. When you can't inhale again, Exhale and enjoy the rest of you day.

I should add I didn't see the door being closed or your nice bum Alex...just a joke folks.

Chris Mackenzie
>>133127917

I genuinely empathize with your feelings about being photographed, as I share similar sentiments. Your openness about your experiences is deeply appreciated, and I want to acknowledge the bravery it takes to share your journey. While I haven't been diagnosed with eating disorder-related conditions, aside from being pre-type 2 diabetic, which I don't consider an eating disorder, and as someone with a neurodivergent condition, I may sometimes struggle to express myself clearly. I actually used ChatGPT to help articulate my thoughts😅 but please know that my comments are genuine. Both Jay Jay and your willingness to discuss your eating disorder is something I'm truly grateful for as well and something I really appreciate about this platform and ASWT in general.

Jamie
>>133127917

Aw, thank you so much. It truly means a lot because sometimes it feels like I’ve made no progress and then other days, I’m proud of myself for coming as far as I have because it was really bad through my teens and mid twenties. My family was worried I wasn’t going to make it. I don’t know how I did, to be quite honest. The man thing I struggle with now is the guilt whenever I take a bite of something and how I always tell myself I can’t have a snack with friends while watching a show because I already ate a full meal. I don’t enjoy food the way most people do, I’m never like “oh wow, this sounds good, I want this to eat” etc. I just eat to survive. I just gave away some candy from Halloween that wasn’t expired ‘cause I bought it when I was having a good week and then I didn’t want to look at it anymore. Anyway, sorry for the word vomit!! It’s just I think about it when i watch anything Heartstopper related. For what it’s worth, you expressed yourself well. Thank you.

JayJay
>>133127917

Thanks to both of you for your kind words! I definitely get the feelings of guilt, both about food and missing out on events. I really regret the memories I didn’t make and the friends I lost because of it. One of the worst parts of an eating disorder is how it isolates you. Even if you’re doing better physically, the only person who really knows how much mental strength some meals take is yourself. But the voice in your head rarely says you did well afterwards. I wasn’t sure I was gonna make it through my mid twenties either but I’m glad we both did. It’s only up from here!

Jacqui Chesterton

Pretty sure the ferris wheel 🎡 is Charlie and Tori in this case, and trapping someone in a conversation really does feel on brand for Tori 😅🧛‍♀️🥤. I may have said this in another comment, sorry if so but I can't find it if I did - I'm so excited for Darcy's gender evolution, which you can see with the hair and makeup. I thought they might be wearing a binder as well. It feels like a gift specifically for the actor, and that warms my little heart.

Mark Heidel

Just saw an article that due to schedule Liv wasn't able to be in Season 3 but Alice said if there would be a Season 4 hopefully she can be a part of that.
