Yessssssssssssss! Such a fun movie! So excited to watch with you

Dorothy Johnstone

Where’s OFMD? Did you guys discontinue that show?

Sara Nissen

Maybe it's just that so much other content that they wanted to react to have come up since the last episode opload in the end of november, that they are just behind on that series, cause hopefully they didn't forget they didn't finnish season 2. They are also missing the last 4 full length uploads of Young Royals season 2.

Stian Kristoffersen

OMG! My app keeps crashing. I think it can't handle the torrent of posts tonight! 😅 Thank you so much Alex and Josh 😘

Crystal Pritchard

Omg I’m so excited for this!!!! I know what I’ll be watching on repeat tonight!!

Olivia

OMG YESSSSS

Love you guys but damn your release schedule is chaotic! 😆

IRONDOG98

hell yeah! really puttin' out today.😘😉

Marstrand
>>124909732

Makes me sad that Alex and Josh continues to put out new shows before they finnish the ones they started. I was so looking forward to see all the episodes of Young Royals season 2. But it doesn’t look like they are coming anytime soon😔. They stoped halfways 🤷🏼‍♀️.

Sam

I was really hoping you would react to this movie, we really need it after finishing Fellow Travelers!!!

Sarah Vallance (Accessible Yoga with Sarah)

Random fact about this film: The teacher, Mr G, is played by Marshawn Lynch who is an American Footballer, and he said in an interview that the reason he took the role is because his sister came out in high school but he didn't react in the best way. He saw this as a chance to 'right his wrongs' and try and do something positive.

Louise Poole 🍂

Just finished your last Fellow Travellers reaction so the humour of this was SO needed! The film isn't a favourite of mine, but your reaction to it had me rolling 😂

Mary E Crum

Nicholas looks like he had so much fun. Mary and George may kill me....but what a way to go.

Jacqui Chesterton

I can already tell I'm going to snort laugh at this, so I'm taking you to the gym so I can annoy everyone at the treadmills with my laughter lol.

Sara Nissen
>>124909732

I don't mind you doing several things at once, as long as things don't get forgotten(sometimes people might expect more regular uploads of shows you started reacting to) and you don't stress yourselves of course. But of course you deside your schedule, and I'm looking so much forward to your content/to see what you're up to next. Hugs. 🙂

PRIYA AMY

You can definitely tell that this movie was made by and for women. Even naming this movie Bottoms was genius and got people talking. The entire cast was hysterical, including the lovely Nicholas Galitzine. At this point, what can this man not do? I'm not going to survive Mary and George, or The Idea of You.

snallahej

I love this movie soooo much. It’s funny and has a lot to say about several topics. I can’t wait read to read the academic papers from some smart student analyzing the various themes. Thank you!!!! 💜

Jenny Lukan

Little etymology lesson: Lesbian comes from the Greek island Lesbos, which is the home of Sappho, who was a lesbian poet. You’ll also see sapphic to describe woman loving woman relationships that can include lesbians and/or bi women. Gay refers to same gender attraction, so lesbian and gay aren’t entirely interchangeable. Also, there’s definitely bottoms, tops, and switches in sapphic relationships. This movie is wonderful! I’m also looking forward to another “mean lesbian” trope in Mean Girls with Renee Rapp.

Diane Furlong

Such a fun movie. I was so anxious to see what you guys thought of it. You didn’t disappoint. Thanks Josh and Alex

Soraya

I'm so glad you reacted to this I thought you both might like it! Happy Winter Film Festival from sunny Australia 😂

Makayla Hall

I watched this for the first time with my brother and he ended up having an asthma attack and I almost passed out because of how much we were laughing. The jocks when they were running to Jeff were specifically running on the cars. Also I would like to mention that American highschool don't were full padding like that all the time. Plus no one ever mentions the fact that there's just a kid in a cage in the back of the classroom. They used the fact that football players are the most flamboyant people so well. The toilet paper thing is called TPing and I've never egged someone's house but when I was in highschool I knew a few people who egged people houses.

Jacqui Chesterton

I mean far be it from me to speak for all women who are into women but I loved it! Absolutely fucking bonkers, in kind of a cathartic way? It felt like someone took women's rage and just decided to make a film based on if we actually carried out the thoughts in our heads haha. It's definitely not meant to be realistic, but the emotional landscape (if you can find it behind a script made entirely of verbalized intrusive thoughts haha) is very real, in my opinion.

Keatia Savage

I loved this movie and your reaction! I loved how campy it was. It’s also a lot of fun to rewatch because there’s so much going on in the background that you catch something new every time. If you liked this, then you should also watch Shiva Baby by the same director; it’s very different in tone but still pretty funny. Usually in American schools the football players wouldn’t wear their whole uniform all the time, especially not with all the pads and cleats. When I was a cheerleader, we had to wear our full uniforms to school on game days and the football players would only have to wear their jerseys instead of their school shirts. It sucked because the school was always so cold with the A/C blasting and we were only in skirts. It’s kind of messed up now that I think back on it. The movie is just poking fun at the ridiculousness of that. Pep rallies are basically meant to be morale boosters for athletes (usually football players before a homecoming game). There’s usually a performance by the cheerleaders and marching band as well as some activities and challenges to get everyone excited about the game.

Crystal Pritchard

As a woman attracted to other women, what I think I loved most about this movie, besides how camp it is, is that it shows that women can be as unabashedly horny as men in the most ridiculous way. It’s one of my favourite movies of 2023 and I’m so glad you guys enjoyed it!!

D.A. Rowley

The girl who plays Britney is Kaia Gerber, Cindy Crawfords daughter.

Crystal Pritchard

One more comment, I don’t know if you guys have seen or read the Hunger Games, but when Josie is describing her experience at juvie when they are all bonding, she’s just summarizing the plot to the Hunger Games. She even mentions that they had to survive the tributes 😂😂

Rachael

i hope you guys go back and watch the full bloopers! they are hilarious x

Jennifer Fell

As a woman who likes women (I'm bi) I absolutely LOVED this silly funny film. First off I loved how it showed that we can be unhinged, horny messes when we get the opportunity and how fun that can be. I loved the sarcastic humour. I loved the way it absolutely took the piss out of all those 90s high school films. The football team walking round in full kit and cleats on a permanent basis was hilarious, as was the level of nonsense behaviour that just went completely un-noticed by teachers, and the lessons where the teachers simply did nothing at all. I love this film. Your reactions were such fun to watch. The "sharing" scene really does hit hard though, so many women have been SA'd with "gray area stuff". There's a saying isn't there... mens biggest fear is being laughed at by women. Womens is being killed by men. We unconsciously spend so much time placating straight men... it gets exhausting.

Mimi M

Just noticed the “who’s Bell Hooks” line. Devastated

Gina Lipkin

Tipping the Velvet, is another great film from a book, look into it please (the films title refers to oral sex play) lovely to hear from the women here, yay

Gina Lipkin

Fun, feisty, fetishy, free, fab, yes bring on more light laughter

Gina Lipkin

Thanks for your sisterly support

John Riccardi

Love that you guys reacted to this! It was great! Hope to see more diverse queer content here! There are a lot of great comments here, a few things you guys asked about that I haven't seen people respond to yet - Bell Hooks - She was a legendary famous feminist writer and critic. She made HUGE contributions with her writing on feminism, race, and class. Them not knowing who she was is another joke in the movie highlighting contradictions / their lack of knowledge of the actual feminist movement. The Second Wave - When the group learns of PJ and Josie's motivations for the club and the girl comments something to the effect of - ' They were in it all for themselves, this is the second wave all over again.' - This was a joke about second wave feminism (roughly 1960s-1980s). The F* slur for women. Can't speak for everyone, but yes, as a queer woman the F* slur has been/does get used against me by bigots.

Yes, I would love to see Tipping the Velvet again. I read the book and it is so good. The series is brillant.

D.A. Rowley

Very silly movie. So much fun to watch.

xbujorx

yeah what jennifer said, i loved this movie and i'm someone who absolutely loathes gore. that's the thing tho, this was partly about how ridiculous and f*d up that extreme violence that goes "unnoticed" in most movies centered around men - especially those involving sports and the usual macho rivalries that are portrayed as such natural plot devices... when in fact they're crazy - really *is*; how ridiculous and f*d patriarchy in general is. this just highlights that in an unusual way, from a different point of view, and it's pretty brilliant. also it may be silly and over the top on purpose, but the types of conversations the girls have feels so true to life, i love how it's all so complicated and weird because as girls we're always trying to process the disturbing and double-bind-y messaging from society and peers, and i feel like we get that portrayed so rarely in media, while that's all we really know in rl. also, of course, the gay girl sh*t! it's pretty true to life, i would've loved having a movie like this in high school so much ("but i'm a cheerleader" came close for me, i treasure that movie too). it's so nice to have as protagonists girls whose whole worlds revolves around girls, not guys for once! your reactions to this were fun(ny) to watch. but you should definitely do more reactions to things that center queer girls, i keep suggesting them! :D there's obviously less parodic ones too. (cough, "a league of their own", cough.) also it was pretty amusing how most of the jokes about feminism went right over your heads :)) READ SOME BELL HOOKS! she wrote a lot about pop culture and masculinity too (it's such useful ideas!!!). also, "second wave" refers to feminism, where mostly it was "white feminism" being promoted to the detriment of women of color who have always done a lot of the actually useful essential work & theorizing, also it was mostly *straight* white women getting recognized and having a voice... which eventually started getting addressed but to this day this is what is classically and dominantly considered feminism, and it sucks - i saw your faces were very confused at that line so i thought i'd let you know ha!

Welcome John! Alex and Josh are fun, informative and they cover many topics. I’m in Westchester County NY just about an hour NW of the city. Enjoy

I was really proud of myself for clocking that when she said "tributes," I haven't seen the HG series but apparently what little I knew of them helped me catch that hilarious detail. I'm so obsessed with this fun movie that I bought the digital copy immediately. So fun and smart and Rachel & Ayo have hilarious comedic timing and unique acting styles.

yeah, gotta say; Nicholas has some legit range & he was an extra special joy in this movie. Had only seen him in RW&RB but he's very dynamic, I'm just a sucker for himbos who happen to be named Jeff, I guess. Got two his year: Jeff Sadecki from Yellowjackets & Vikings star athlete, Jeff from Bottoms lolol.

Heather S.

Watched this recently and my favorite part was the car monologue near the beginning about her marrying the gay guy 😂 And my brain works the same way—everything is good or the world is ending, no in between. LOL

Sara Nissen

For more lesbian themed content I'd love for you to react to the romcom Imagine Me And You from 2005, it's a movie I don't often see mentioned, and also But I'm A Cheerleader and Carol.

Dusty Brooks

To answer your question - nope. The out lesbian/wlw high school experience (circa 2004) was very much "there are four of us total, we're all friends, and you will end up dating your best friend's ex at least once." Also...less trying to seduce anyone straight/closeted and more "well it's just us" experimental threesomes.

Jacqueline Hahn

The scene where the girls share details of assault/inappropriate behaviour towards them (grey area stuff). Every girl has a story...sadly that is true. Every single woman you know will have a story about being followed home, being touched up in a bar or at school, being verbally assaulted for turning a guy down and much, much worse.

Julia

Lol this is a wild one. It was fun to see you two watching it! Some other suggestions with different representation if you're looking for them: The Miseducation of Cameron Post-set in the 90's a teen girl gets sent to conversion therapy. Based off a great book. Tomboy-French, new kid moves to town and spends the summer playing with neighbor kids as a boy, except the kid is biologically a girl. Rent-starving artists in NYC during the Aids crisis, written by a starving artist who lived in NYC during the Aids crisis. An variety of representation and a musical. Could be interesting to see how it compares to representation today since the musical was written in the early 90's.

Reem

Where is this streaming in the UK? On which platform? Tried to find it on Prime but it seems I’ve got to be on Prime in the US and with an MGM added subscription? Thanks all! I did Google it myself but still wasn’t clear. xx

Zach Hilts

"Gays ARE talented!" Excuse me Alex, I'm living proof not ALL gays are talented haha

Nessie
>>124909732

Not to be dramatic, but waiting over a month for ep 6 is literally killing me! 🤣 I’m sure they didn’t know what a cliffhanger that is for people who have watched the show already.

Dawn Johnson

I suggest, if ever you find the time, rewatch and pay attention to all the insanity going on in the background of each shot, from the posters, to the guy in the cage, to JEFF! struggling into class on crutches, then shoving Hazel after class and walking out carrying said crutches, there's also a guy getting a blowjob in the background of that scene. Also, after watching SO many reactions to this movie, I found only one where the reactor commented on the enormous shlong of the mascot. Great reaction, though.

Dawn Johnson

Also, jocks and cheerleaders in American high schools normally wear their jersey and uniforms on pep rally days or game days, I think. The fact that they are in full pads and gear every day, all day is zany. Also, if you remember, JEFF! didn't even take his shoulder pads off to bed Mrs. Callahan. The toilet paper thing is called TP'ing.

Dawn Johnson

Also, in the post credits they show extra stuff with each actor as they name them...including Galitzine. ;)
