Raiding the junk closet in the hopes of not finding junk.

Looks like pops has his first potential buyer. Lol

Glenn Sellers

When Pops described one of the computers he found as a keyboard, my mind immediately went to "Word Processor". However, after reading further, I see I was incorrect. My first introduction to personal computers was a word processor that someone I knew had bought. She asked me if I could type and, after I said yes, she asked me to type something. Before I knew it I had written two pages of the first story I ever wrote. Funny how things like that happen. All that said, I must say, I feel sorry for Danielle. She looks a wee bit depressed that she won't be able to use her phone. However, I've got a feeling that after she sees Sabrina working on that Amiga, she'll perk up a bit. Maybe, she'll even start working on it with Sabrina.

Looks like Sabrina has just found her little slice of “hillbilly heaven“😊

Always ready for an opportunity to do things with Amigas.

I thought it might be a Commodore 64 or 128, or maybe a (horrors!) Atari ST, a.k.a. a Jackintosh. The 64 was the most popular computer in the world for several years, and the 128 was also quite popular. Mostly they ended up in people's closets or attics. The Jackintosh was Jack Tramiel's attempt to compete with Apple's Macintosh. It ran Digital Research's GEM GUI, superior to Windows 1, 2, and 3, but not quite Mac-level, and was a very nice machine for the price. The main problem was that GEM was based on Digital Research's CP/M OS, which wasn't as good as MS-DOS, the underlying OS in Win 1-3. DR brought out GEMDOS, a whole new OS, and the Atari got it. It was now level with Macs and vastly superior to Win 1-3. Unfortunately, Jack Trameil had a... reputation... and most software developers stayed far away. Minor devs, and new devs who hadn't dealt with Tramiel before, released some software titles for the Atari; for a while there was more software for the Atari than for the Amiga; major guys like Ashton-Tate, Lotus, WordPerfect, and, of course, MS, stayed far away. Then, Tramiel was Tramiel, and even the small fry bailed. I liked GEM. It deserved better.

Sabrina is back in her element!

Dave Barrack

Ah, the Amiga 500, running a Motorola 68000 CPU at a blistering 7.16 MHz (7.09 MHz for PAL territories) with 512 KILObytes of RAM. It's amazing the things programmers were able to achieve with such cutting edge silicon.

Dogman15

Not sure what you think I said, but to clarify, I was referring to how Sabrina herself is obsessed with Amiga computers, and will jump at the chance to use one, no matter how old it is.

CunningRedFox

You have an expert in the house.

The Amiga Mascot is Back!

ThatCrazyAssSkunkGuy

I got to say it, Sabrina standing straight up and cracking her knuckles just at seeing an Amiga is pure nerdy sex appeal.

Wild Card

Kiddo is about to learn what her mom used to play with when she was younger. Sabrina will be in her element.

Floppy disks? Uh, that might not work anymore. We had a nostalgia meeting recently, quite a few of us had old PC games on disks. And turns out, after twenty years or a bit more, most of those disks are no longer readable. Anyhow, i guess the vacation in the roots goes more into the direction of a old style LAN party now. I like the story so far.
