Some Ed

Checking for injuries doesn't mean not damaged, at least not in our world. It means one took enough of a hit that one expects to have some. There's some amount of not trusting ones primary sensation in the targeted area, either due to experience, numbness, or otherwise apparent nerve damage. On the other hand, it does mean that one wasn't incapacitated, because people who are unconscious, paralyzed, or stunned senseless rarely check for damage. It means the opponent is still probably at least a bit combat capable, and the more injured they are, the more vicious they will probably be, because that's how desperate people are in combat. But this was Kheil thinking. Depending on how her father trained her, it's possible that nuance was considered out of scope.
