Actually if we look back it was all planned. When Octavia was on her M-cap session Anders was really interested in Bellamy and studied and watched him through Octavia's memories. Obviously, as we r watching it rn he saw something in him and thats why when he openned bridge it wasnt to Sanctum like Octavia said but he deliberately sent him to Etherea to "open his eyes" to what they believe in... it could have been also the fact that he killed few of them and Anders wanted something back Didnt picked up this 1st time i watched it back then in 2020 if i am correct but now it makes sense. Also that guy really was pushing with all that faith stuff on Bellamy so hard like it was all meant to be, for him to be Bellamy's guide through finding his faith and become one of them. Cant blame Bellamy that he "fell for it". Imagine being stuck on planet in some cave for months, desperate to get back to his family. If i was him i would do the same thing

I was gonna say that Bellamy was easily swayed by pike of course after seeing this type of stuff he’d be fully bought in. Imagine the pure betrayal everyone must have just felt out of absolutely no where Bellamy comes back a different person. The fact that The mom is the same actor as season one is crazy, she had one line of dialogue and then she’s gone. I’m super curious about that transcending stuff it seems like some kind of god or higher power

I am not saying i am right but it make sense. I just dont think it was the case of Anders sending him to random planet. Etherea as we heard is probablly the only one that contains evidence of transcendece, the next step of rase. Same planet, Bill went to explore i found these light beings. so yeah it was probablly 99% on purpose by Anders. Anders just put 2 and 2 together like i saw what he can do and i cant let him stay here and i cant let him fo back to sanctum so he could be valuable asset to this place when he returns from Etherea

Octavia

Bellamy has always been a follower when there's a strong personality in front of him.... be it Clarke, Pike, or Cadogan. For me, this has always been his nature. He susceptible because he's always looking for a guide. (6 years leading on the Ring is different because it was a closed environment with just a few people.)

I find this episode to be a bit boring with Geico caveman Bellamy. I'm sure B-man carries a ton of guilt over things he's helped cause, like his mother's death. Ripe for a cult. Regardless whether transcendence is real or not -- evolving to a higher level is a pretty common sci-fi theme (see Star Trek, Stargate SG-1) -- it's no excuse really, to betray his closest family for a new found faith. I've got no trust for him.

At least Bellamy got a nice boyfriend for joining the cult. Seriously though. As someone else already mentioned: the idea of humans evolving to a higher plane of existence, or consciousness, is a popular concept in sci fi. Call it ascension, or transcendance. In my view, the idea of it & Bill's approach to it are two separate things. One may be right while still being very wrong. I trust in Becca. She went into the glow and came back really freaked out. Saying that we aren't ready. And that it definitely shouldn't be in the hands of Cadogan. Raven, Jordan, etc., were sleeping in another room. Right before Cadogan entered, Clarke said she was going to wake the others. To also tell them that she planned on trading her cooperation for their freedom.
