Dexter S01E12 Born Free FULL REACTION

God Deb is one of the best actresses I’ve ever seen, she had me getting chills and crying, you could feel the fear and terror in her screams and cry’s. I can’t wait to see what happens next season this season has been amazing. Also apparently this is where the “surprise motherfucker” sound is from, that caught me so off guard when I heard doakes say that.

Ninaofthe90s

I don't know about you but I did not celebrate with popcorn when Dexter had to do that to his brother. This whole story is a goddamn tragedy. Rudy/Brian is just like Dex but without Harry to help him and giving him a code. Think about that. I really liked the character. And I do feel bad for him - that's the power of good writing.

Milen Mladenov

So happy that you enjoyed season 1... In my eyes if the show went another direction and for the rest of it was Dexter and Rudy running from the law together killing people... I'd be ok with that... would have been super interesting... Season 2 is my personal favourite of all the seasons (not that the rest are not good)... Get ready for a ride... It's one of the best crime shows I've seen.

Milen Mladenov

Doakes as a character is fantastic... from episode 1 he's instincts for Dexter were on point... and the actor... god... he plays him PERFECLTY.

I’m just so glad you guys are watching

Tml826

Silent fan but I’ve watched everything with you guys 🤣 I just know you’ll love the whole series, and please do new blood when you’re finished. 🤗

Tml826

Love how much you appreciate Rita! She’s just such a perfect sweet person lol and gorgeous!!! Such good characters.

My heart broke for Brian, but there’s no helping someone gone that far, and Dexter kills bad people. But I will say this show is so special because of what emotions it brings out. Seeing Dexter in blood realizing what was happening when he was a toddler is jarring at the least. To HATE Rudy and then seeing him as a child and knowing no one cared enough to save him .. you feel for him. One of the best first seasons of a show I’ve seen.

Ninaofthe90s

I agree. I really feel for Brian, that's why I think it's important to mention how similar he and Dex are but how one of them had help and the other didn't. Which is why I could never say that I don't care about Brian. I always appreciate when the writers make it a bit more complicated than that. But you're right, Brian is too far gone and there's no way Dex could let him live. It's sad.

IsaMeM4RIO

Ahh the classic doakes surprise mfer has finally made its appearance.

Anthony Ancona

Such an awesome show! I am loving it. You guys are killing with your reactions! Lol.

darg

The shock on my face when I heard Doakes say "surprise motherfucker" and realize it was him the entire time who said that classic line lmao. Season 1 was amazing!

SYN

I have beef with harry cuz how did he just leave Dexter’s brother 😢 separating siblings—both kids had the same trauma and he didn’t even seem to care what happened to the other kid?!? when I catch you harry—- lol but I really enjoyed this episode

Kamanda Hickey

I agree. Brian must have felt ignored and unloved at that moment (not that I feel bad for him as an adult of course).

Kamanda Hickey

I have seen a lot of great shows but nothing compares to Dexter in terms of a first season. The characters are so interesting and make you want to know more about them. Everybody is intriguing and Doakes is honestly the best cop of all with perfect instincts - not that I want my man Dex to be in trouble 😂. I am so ready for Season 2 and so happy that you loved season 1.

Kamanda Hickey

Deb is amazing, one of my favorite character in this show from the moment we met her.

SYN

Yes same! I feel bad for kid Brian.

Michael

Honestly I feel bad for what happened to Brian. He went though the same tragedy as Dexter and was abandoned, he is exactly what Dexter would have become if not for being molded by Harry. He was absolutely a monster and Dexter had to put him down but the whole situation is just so sad

adam99x

Watch Season 2 Now!!! :P

Lee

The reveal that Brian is Dexter's brother was one of my favorites of the show, I totally didn't see that happening. Dexter's worry and concern for Deb is why I'll never be on the team that Dex doesn't have feelings.

Ninaofthe90s

He just cried because he had to kill his brother. I don't think anyone can doubt he has feelings 👍

Charlie West

I have been SO excited to see your reactions to this episode!!!

minkit

I'm on the team "I feel bad for Brian". sure he turned out to be a serial killing monster but then again so did Dexter. Dexter just had Harry to help curb him towards a different prey to hunt and it's hard to feel as bad for the people he kills when they're praying on innocent children for instance, like the guy from the very first episode. I get Harry thinking Brian was too far gone to help him unlike Dexter, but even the fact that he just... let Brian continue sitting in that container for 2 seconds longer when he probably could have carried them both out and then letting Brian just be locked away in an institution that was probably awful. Cuz no one can say those places are *good*. Its no wonder Brian turned out how he is. Either way, I think the saddest thing is if Brian had forgotten the whole "gotta kill Deb and get rid of Dexter's family because I'M his real family" thing and just... approached Dexter with the truth, that they're brothers and they both have this *thing* about them (and leave Deb alone) they prob would've had a great relationship, uh, killing ppl together adfhshdh Brian!! you went about having a relationship with your brother the wrong way!!! smhhh Super excited for s2... s2 is absolutely one of my favorite seasons. Top 3 at LEAST, if not top 2.

Elle

s2 is great, except for a certain brit who I wont go into details about. I love 3+4 I think the most. Totally enjoying rewatching with R&T, has been a while for me.

Andrew

Looking forward to Season 2. Definitely one of the top 8 seasons of Dexter

Large Big79

such a bingeable show, I've watched all of season 2 since this came out, too addicting to watch weekly

Janet

It's weird that this was 18 years ago but it still holds up so well and I can't truly figure out why?! The phones are really different but the clothes and the cars kind of hold up. WTF? And the laptops feel alright
