Loki S2E5+6 Science Fiction Glorious Purpose FULL REACTION

One of the best finales ever!

A few things worth noting: 1.) Casey’s real name is Frank Morris. In real life, Frank was one of three inmates who attempted to escape Alcatraz in 1962. However, it’s assumed that they drowned before they could make it far. 2.) Back in season 1, Sylvie showed B-15 the life she had through her enchanting. She said she looked happy, and now we know it’s true. Her real name is Dr. Verity Willis. Before any of this happened, she worked as a pediatrist at a children’s clinic her father founded. 3.) As for Mobius, there is one theory going around but it hasn’t been confirmed. He was a single father in 2022 which is during the Blip. Unless his wife passed away due to natural causes or something else, then it’s possible that she might have been among half of the population who vanished until the Avengers revived them. First, Doctor Strange bargained with Dormammu after dying countless times. Now we have Victor doing the same in the attempt to fix the loom. I wonder how many takes it took Tom Hiddleston to say “Timely’s adaptive exponential computing system.” It just sounds so funny. After watching this series, who funnier in your opinion: He Who Remains or Victor Timely? In the end, Loki chose his burden by embracing the two things he didn't want: loneliness and a throne. It's a sad happy ending because his friends and the countless dimensions survive but it’s not without sacrifice. The best and only way it happens is that Loki ascends to his new glorious purpose as the god of storytelling. The variants of He Who Remains are the Council of Kangs, and the report is regarding the events of Quantumania. Basically this means that Scott and Hope managed to buy the TVA more time to prepare for the imminent fight against the Council. I recently got my sister to watch Loki season 2, and I mostly did it because she’s a fan of Ke Huy Quan through his work on Everything Everywhere All At Once. His character O.B. turned out to be her favorite, and mine as well. It’s crazy to think how one good thing leads to another. I also wanna acknowledge Wunmi Mosaku. Her character B-15 started to grow on me late into season 1, and now I’ve gotten to like her even more. We get to see more of her vulnerability, empathy, and leadership. Mobius may be seeking a new calling which is a good thing, but the TVA is in great hands. With B-15 sticking around, it’ll become a happier and healthier work environment as shown in their new slogan/campaign “Let’s Grow Together.” And how can I forget about Casey? He had a relatively small role in the first season that I didn’t think he was gonna be more prominent the second time around. That change took me by surprise in the best way possible. His level of expertise may not be as high as that of O.B., but he follows along quite well and his input matters a great deal. The two of them and Victor clearly work well together to the point that they wrote and published the second edition of the TVA Official Handbook. Casey’s contributions, no matter how big or small, helped to save the TVA and with it quite possibly every dimension.

Sylvie's Nexus event is implied to be Her Loki becoming a Hero or a Valkyrie from the toys she was playing with

Rob said, "stick it in the hole!" And my quick response was, that's what she said! Hahaha 😅💜

Rob, It's funny when you said "I'm just making this all up" because that was exactly Loki's realization on the solution. He would just blow up the loom and just make it up as he went along. And put hope in the idea that he could make something better than what was there before.

I think it was a great completion of Loki's arc. No idea if he shows up in the new Deadpool since they show the TVA in the trailer but at I assume there will at least be a quip from Wade about it. I do like that Loki finally got a home, and that he got to live up his glorious purpose, just not in the way Avengers (2012) Loki would have understood. As one of you said during the reaction, he is basically he who remains now but out a love rather than ego or lust for power. It is very touching. I thought it was a beautiful touch when the finally gathers all the threads he becomes the heart of Yggdrasil; just a great visual and excellent way to tie in whole Asgardian mythology they pulled him from. With all the news coming out of Comicon, the real world actions of Jonathan Major necessitating Kang's replacement as the big-bad, the uneven reception to most of the post-Infinity saga content, and knowing that they Secret Wars is coming, which was a massive timeline reset for the comics continuity at the time, I assume this will be Disney's chance to compress all of their reacquired IP like X-Men and Fantastic 4 back into a new. hopefully more coherent timeline. I just assume we will probably see Tom back as Loki in Secret Wars because right now he is like the only thing keeping all of the realities from sundering. There is no way he can maintain that and I assume there are other being in the universe who are aware of what he did and some of them are probably unhappy with someone holding their fate like that, benevolent or not. I have hear a lot of people bemoan the overuse of multiversal plot point and I can't entirely disagree but I think the main issue is that they didn't have as clear an overriding plan for the MCU after Endgame. They have already all but said they aren't going more Antman or Eternals, but everything else is open season and i am just happy to see what they do.

Loki, God of Stories

CheshireKat528

Hiddleston had the idea for Loki’s last spoken line in this show to mirror the last thing he said to Odin at the end of the first Thor movie. It was the perfect way to illustrate the amazing character arc Loki has had over the course of the last 12 years. 'I could have done it, Father. I could have done it, for you, for all of us.” - Loki in “Thor” 2011 “I know what I want I know what kind of god I need to be. For you. For all of us.” -Loki in “Loki S2” 2023 We all felt the same as Trin, this final episode left us with that bittersweet feeling. It was so awesome to see Loki finally ascend to his “glorious purpose” and become the god of time, but it breaks the heart to know that he is all alone. I like that we saw him content at the end. I like to think that even tho he is alone, he is not lonely. I’m glad we got to hear, that he can hear, and possibly see, the timelines and know that his friends and family are safe and happy. Mobius once mocked Loki about wanting to be “LOKI, THE KING OF SPACE” He was close, “Loki, the god of time” Guess now we know why the time stone was green 😉 💚🗡️🐍🕰️🐊🗡️💚

This is a part of the poems that Loki referenced when he said "We die with the dying, we are born with the dead". Tom Hiddleston has mentioned in various interviews that this poem was in his mind while filming this season and you can definitely tell from reading it that it greatly influenced this story. FOUR QUARTETS T.S. Eliot LITTLE GIDDING ... V What we call the beginning is often the end And to make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from. And every phrase And sentence that is right (where every word is at home, Taking its place to support the others, The word neither diffident nor ostentatious, An easy commerce of the old and the new, The common word exact without vulgarity, The formal word precise but not pedantic, The complete consort dancing together) Every phrase and every sentence is an end and a beginning, Every poem an epitaph. And any action Is a step to the block, to the fire, down the sea's throat Or to an illegible stone: and that is where we start. We die with the dying: See, they depart, and we go with them. We are born with the dead: See, they return, and bring us with them. The moment of the rose and the moment of the yew-tree Are of equal duration. A people without history Is not redeemed from time, for history is a pattern Of timeless moments. So, while the light fails On a winter's afternoon, in a secluded chapel History is now and England. With the drawing of this Love and the voice of this Calling We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time. Through the unknown, remembered gate When the last of earth left to discover Is that which was the beginning; At the source of the longest river The voice of the hidden waterfall And the children in the apple-tree Not known, because not looked for But heard, half-heard, in the stillness Between two waves of the sea. Quick now, here, now, always— A condition of complete simplicity (Costing not less than everything) And all shall be well and All manner of thing shall be well When the tongues of flame are in-folded Into the crowned knot of fire And the fire and the rose are one. you can read the rest here: http://www.davidgorman.com/4quartets/

When I watched this I also wanted a TVA book lol. So they sell them online, but they don’t sell the TV show accurate with the upper rounded corner.

YaYa

that's how i interpreted that as well -- her nexus event being that she was going to be good

Jan T

Great finish to the season. I’m pretty sure we’ll see Loki, God of Stories, in the future. 💚

Hi Rob and Trin, it was a pleasure watching this series again, this time with you guys, Something that a lot of people didn't understand at least at first, and it took me a while too, is that the "real" Loki died, in that explosion at the end of episode 4, and his consciousness was sent to Loki from the first episode, the one who was sent "outside time and space" by Mobius, so that the timeslip would stop. That's why the timeslips come back, because it's that Loki, that "reality", ours that we followed until episode 4, he only went as far as that point. And as this Loki exists outside of space and time, he managed to resist the radiation not because he is a god, but because it bearly affects him anymore, same as the Spaghettification, and by doing so, he could unite all the branches, that is, the Loki of episode 1, that version, at that point, is the one who saves everything ps: Dexter's reactions are to die for, I love it, pun intended

James

I loved this show so much I really want to see Loki again. He single handed saved the entire multiverse, he went from a villain to the savior of the universe and probably the most powerful character we’ve seen in the MCU he has the ability to rewind and alter time however he wants.

Deathhead

Loki's "ascension to Godhood" has to be one of the best moments in Marvel. Also remember when Hulk called Loki a punny god ? :))

Deathhead

Loki has the ability to project illusions, as powerful as he is now, i believe he could just project himself anywhere in the timelines, so we might see him again. We'll surely see him again, he will be the one to warn everyone that something is very wrong with the multiverse in avengers, i'm willing to bet on it.

Marisol Ferreira

Finally burden with glorious purpose, dressed with a more humble king outfit because finally he understands that to be a king is to be for others, not for himself and it is a burden. (Outfit very much God of Stories, leather loafers included :) )

Michael Celia

It's amazing that a show so complex was able to stick the landing. The "Loki Ascends" sequence is so epic between the visuals and Natalie Holt's score. I actually had to take a minute to process it after I first watched it.

The Goateed Geek

Put the two series together and you have one of the best things Marvel has put out. Certainly with the most satisfying character arcs, from selfishness to selflessness.

The Goateed Geek

Marvel streaming shows have always been a little bit of a strange area. They are canon, part of the MCU, but not everyone has Disney+ and not everyone has seen the shows. How big a story can you tell, how impactful can it be on the MCU mainstream (the Movies), how much will you have to retell in the movie so that those who have not seen the show can still follow. Now Chapek is not in charge and they are no longer trying to flood Disney+ with product we will have to see how things shape up moving forward. For me so far, more hits than misses, and the misses have not been that bad (IMO)

William

We DO know Sylvie's nexus event -- she was nice. If you listened and watched while she was playing with her toys when we first saw her, she saved Asgard and everyone in it from a dragon. Lokis are supposed to be inherently bad, but Sylvie was already on a different path from a young age...hence she was pruned.

Mr. K

Zaniac was the name of the movie from the hunter(Brad) that had become an actor

Thurrak

It's probably some of the best writing I've ever seen in a TV show. Michael Waldron and Eric Martin and their team did an amazing job.

Johann Miranda V.

A month ago I watched Thor again (1) and I couldn't help but cry when I remembered this scene and what it says at the end. Loki has some of the best character development.

WabbitTrax

Curious what is taking place of Loki on the weekly schedule?

YaYa

The Marvels is next and then What If! :)

ShaniBee

i LOVED this show <3

Ben

Maybe one of the best things Marvel has done in my opinion

Octavia

Unpopular opinion... I think all the moving parts here were entertaining, great acting and character interplay. But looking at the whole... it was all flashy plot, no story. 6 episodes that barely moved forward in any way, just spun its wheels, until the end. I also think that Loki's trajectory from Villain to Anti-Hero to Hero happens in way too short of a span to be earned. But it's Hiddleston... so he pulls it off.
