The Expanse S1E7+8 Windmills Salvage FULL REACTION

Comments

William

If you could see the excited dance I’m doing right now. 🤪

Oh man, I'm so here for these reactions to The Expanse. I'm loving watching you guys fall in love with the show, like you did with Firefly. Can't wait to see how you react to what is coming.

This show is genuinely one of my fav shows of all time. Miller showing up in the nick of time to help the Roci crew at the motel was such a MOMENT when I first saw it. Just loved the idea of those two storylines dovetailing into each other and getting to see Miller interact with the others. 1:27:45 You may have missed the info in episode 3 but during Jim's interrogation with Lopez a while ago it was revealed that Jim is the son of 8 parents. It was a very quick moment in a tense episode so I def understand missing the info. He's the full, biological son of 8 different parents who are all married to each other and who mixed their genes in order to have Holden. However, he gestated in Mother Elise as she "had the widest hips," in his terms. The woman we met in this episode was Elise Holden, the mother who carried him to term. That's why she says, "He has all 8 of us in him but I carried him in my belly for 9 months. He is mine!" She has a special connection to Jim outside of his other parents because of that. In the world of the Expanse, polyamory is common and accepted. You can get legally married and have many-parent children through biotechnical advancements. Holden's parents are one of the polyamorous polycules that we meet in the show.

Man, this WTF ending. This show bumps up a whole level after this. Windmills is another reference to Don Quixote, an old man who goes crazy that he thinks he's a knight and tries to fight windmills, imagining they're giants. It's also the book Avasarala admires at Holden's house.

What we know about the Mormons being here is pretty much just they've commissioned Tycho Station to build them a generation ship (the Nauvoo) to go to another star system. I don't know enough about Mormons to know if that is some sort of already set idea in Mormonism. With the size of the ship, it looks like they're trying to take all the Mormons in existence. I'd guess they all pooled their money together to get the ship built. They don't seem to be interested in politics here because they're all planning on leaving here. I didn't read the books so I don't know if there's more to them than that, but that's all I'm getting about them from the show.

James

Good episodes I always love when multiple storylines converge and we get character meetings.

I am waiting to hear: "Give me an open channel ...... ' this is the Warship Roccinante' .... ". On another note, I don't know if you heard it, but the spy is played by the vocal actor of Adam Jensen from the Deus Ex game series (human revolution and mankind divided), so having him be an elite augmented spy is awesome and pretty meta.

And it is just getting started.

I loved getting Miller and Holden's story's converging and I'm so excited for everything to come. Totally new to this one and it's so cool so far 😎 might have to read the books...

+400 channel points for coming along on this journey with us! (Channel points have 0 real world value) 🎉

I’m loving how invested you’re getting in this show, how switched on you are and how you’re putting things together and coming up with theories. I’ve seen some reactors just not click with the show and it’s so disappointing when that happens because The Expanse really rewards viewers who pick up on details and pay attention. As great as season 1 is, I cannot wait for you to get to seasons 2 and 3 which include what must be some of the best television ever made. Holy crap things are going to get good!

Joshua Johnson

We are getting to the point where this show gets so incredibly amazing that it becomes one of your favorite shows ever

James

I honestly wouldn't have watched this show without these reactions, and now I'm hooked (I'd always heard of it but never really bothered to get into it). It's getting really interesting now.

Beware The Jabberwock

Hey Rob and Trin. Holden’s mom also played Rose’s mother in the film Titanic. 🚢😉 Also, the “antique” book that Chrisjen looks at in Holden’s mom’s house - she says it’s by Cervantes. He’s the author of Don Quixote - and Quixote’s horse is where Holden got the name Rocinante. His mother tells Chrisjen that he loved the story. Serious points to the show for adding that much detail. ❤️

Deathhead

They are only counted in the Good Place :))
