I am heartbroken. I wanted Deb to get a happy ending most of all😪. She was my favorite character in the series. I hope we see her in the next series in flashbacks or in Dexters head (like Harry).

God I can’t believe this is the end it’s been an amazing journey watching this. I can’t even begin to express how pissed off I am that I was spoiled that Deb would die like 4 seasons ago I’ve been gaslighting myself into believing it wasn’t true. I definitely would have cried so much more if I wasn’t half expecting it but it still hit. The character development that all these characters went through over these 8 seasons has been very enjoyable. She was such a phenomenal character and actress I’m going to miss her so much. I can’t wait to get into new blood and watch it for the first time. No clue what it’s about, I need to see what’s going to happen.

Can’t believe this journey is over now. Heartbroken all over again for Deb, and as is often the case, mixed feelings about Dexter. Tough final episode. 🥺 But it’s been a great experience to revisit this show with Rob and Trin’s reactions. I haven’t seen the sequel shows, and I’m a bit sceptical that they can live up to the consistently high quality of this production, but I’m keen to dive in and give New Blood a chance. ♥️🩸♥️

I want to point out that earlier Dexter said he’d never seen a miracle and yet he still sat there waiting for a miracle after he took her off life support 😭

They hadn’t planned to make another show when this one ended in 2013 but I think there was a lot fans asking for more content that led SHOWTIME to reach out showrunners and writers to see if they would and that’s how we got the additional show in 2021

I understand the symbolism of Deb being Dexter's final victim... but she, at the very least, deserved to be placed at rest near her father & mother. But Dexter was always selfish. Not a fan of how this went.

Poor Deb, she deserved so much better. My favorite character in the show and a great actress. I enjoyed rewatching this journey of Dexter with both of you. I never watched New Blood, so I'm looking forward to seeing what it has in store for us!

I definitely believe that Quinn knew what Dexter did was intentional. Quinn knows Dexter killed Liddy and he kept it to himself for the sake of his career and for Deb and because Dexter cut him some slack and didn't implicate him, which Quinn knows that Dexter very well could have. It's a shame we never get a personal conversation between the two of them, but it's not needed. We see the Quinn knows Dexter murdered Saxon and he's happy for it. But then again, this shouldn't be a surprise. Season 7 proved that Quinn has no problem with murder if it alligns with his personal morals.

I agree. That never did sit well with me. Deb deserved a proper grave. The writers definitely got carried away with the symbolism, but I always thought it was disrespectful to Deb’s character.

They really did Deb and the viewers dirty when they ended this. Was a very unsatisfying ending to an awesome series. I haven't watched any of the new stuff yet, looking forward to watching with you guys.

Yeah I’m definitely pissed about Deb she was hands down one of my favorite characters in any show I’ve seen she deserved so much better but it didn’t ruin the show for me. It would’ve been way worse if they killed her off sooner at least it was at the very end

Even Angel was looking at Dexter like he knew it was on purpose but he didn’t say anything because he understood why he did it. I mean Dexter stabbed him in the jugular with a pen in a perfect motion it was very clean

Jennifer Carpenter asked the writers to kill her off. She said at Comicon that she didn't want Deb living in her head for the next 10 years.

Just wanted to say massive thanks to both of you for reacting to my favourite show of all time. This is probably my 8th full watch and it almost felt like the first time again.

And yet she didn't stop living in her head. But to be clear... she was appalled at how Deb was treated in death. And regrets that she really didn't consider how the audience would feel.

This ending didn't go over well. I'm not against main characters dying. Lost (and others) can't be your favorite show without reconciling that it can have purpose. But as far as I'm concerned, there's no universe where Deb should die and Hannah gets Harrison.... that is just the wrong writing choice for closure. I'm a sucker for full circle endings (see Lost). So I don't care if it's cliche, but my personal ending would've been... Dexter seemingly dies, Deb raises Harrison, after a few years he exhibits similar inclinations as Dexter did, Deb continues to follow (but improve) in her father's footsteps and begins teaching him a code (more emphathetically as a fail safe).

I'm not that mad they killed Deb. Story telling wise, as sad as it is, Dexter's way of life will always affect the people around him who he loves and cares about. That's just how it's going to be. I AM upset by the way they executed it. I think that's my main issue with this season & what was my main issue with this ending. It was unsatisfying. I don't need a finale to be super crazy or explosive, but I was left unsatisfied by this original ending. I DO like New Blood tho. I'm one of the few ppl who genuinely enjoyed it (& was okay with how they again decided to "end" it there however now we have the new Dexter series coming up lol) I'm very eager to see your guys' thoughts on New Blood (& then Original Sin which i also LOVED. 1 of my favorite seasons of the whole franchise honestly). This has been an amazing journey with you guys. <3

YEah, I definitely still love the show (I havea dog called DExter actually haha), but it was an unneccessary ending. Although I've read someone else said Jennifer asked to be killed off, so maybe that explains the pointlessness of it...

I think what made this ending so hard and unsatisfying was the fact we didn't have any knowledge of New Blood coming. We were left with this. For 9 freaking years! It's MUCH easier to take knowing that New Blood is lined up next for you. Glad you didn't have to suffer like us. Be interested to hear your thoughts on New Blood...

wow guys ... although I already knew the ending, I never watched this season again until now and it's still heartbreaking. Deb is definitely the best character of the show :(
