Hancock!

Shut Up Meg

Another group of promising polls only to end up with the worst left😮‍💨 hope the Rob and trin picks make up for it. Really not trying to be that guy, but I'm really starting to feel like this is every time now. I get we all have our tastes but yeeesh

Chris B

This is too funny! ;)) To think we had: American History X, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Big Lebowski, Léon: The Professional , Parasite, Ex Machina, Blade Runner 2049, The Nice Guys, Memento....

CardboardSpoon

It’s mental how poor the final poll options have been, it baffles my mind

Andy Walker

Out of all the S-Tier films recommended.... This is Honestly why I stopped participating in the polls. Hoping their picks are solid.

Andy Walker

I really don't get it either, but the saving grace is the variety, I suppose.

Captain

I think I'm becoming the old man who just doesn't get it anymore. We had so many heavy hitters in the polls this month too. We all have different tastes though I guess.

Nora

😣😣 the list…😵‍💫 I was really waiting for “The Nun” movies maybe next time

Mony

I had a hard time picking from the tier before this one. This one is just...

Jenny Lee Villanueva

Happy Death Day, Final Destination 2, Hancock and Now You See Me for my top 4. Too bad my choice From Dusk Till Dawn didn't make it, maybe next time.

Bradley Weeks

Absolutely none of these movies appeal to me. Hamilton never happens, Dances with wolves never happens. I suggested Wicked because it was a more recent movie that did really well at the box office but that didn't really help. I always have such high hopes for these polls. Well maybe they will fare better next month. I'm sure Rob and Trin will pick some good ones. I'm not voting in this final poll. Sorry to be so negative. I just needed to vent a little.

JustJordan

Final Destination 2, Happy Death Day and Fantastic Four, those are ones I wanna see win for sure

Ae Jae

Fingers crossed for Hancock!

Octavia

When the Fast & Furious franchise is considered the most worth watching... it's a sad testament. (And I like a few of them... but they are just mindless rote.) As far as action/thrillers go... The Fugitive (Harrison Ford) is both fun and well done... and was nominated for Best Picture. That's the quality bar that I prefer.

Jan T

I can only support Happy Death Day, and The Accountant for Rob and Trin to watch from this list. At least Happy Death Day is fun, and The Accountant is moderately entertaining.

Jan T

Of the movies that actually made it into the polls, I’m mostly disappointed that Ex Machina and The Nice Guys, and Eternal Sunshine didn’t make the final cut.

Stephanie Bedworth

Hmmm. I think I'll definitely wait for the personal picks this month.

Octavia

Those would be my 2 top picks from this list as well... and of course they are currently the lowest vote-getters. I really don't know why we can't have a month of much narrower criteria for more significant movies.

Landon DuVall

Maybe don't stop participating lol there's part of your problem

Elle

Hoping Final Destination gets in, would love to continue the series with you guys! #2 is a good one too! Haven't seent he Accountant or Now you see me, but they both look good too. Other than that am crossing fingers for R&T picks. You should do a month of just your picks! Because honestly, en masse we suck at picking movies for you 🤣 So many good ones get missed every month.

Jan T

Yeah, those 2 probably won’t make it, by the looks of things. 😄 I’m sure we’ll get some specific genres later in the year, the trouble often seems to be that members of the group rarely stick to movies that predominantly fit the genre.

Superpotroast

I don't understand people's obsession with the Now You See Me movies..I won't spoil anything here but I will non-spoiler sum it up to: yuck..To each their own, I suppose..

Octavia

No... why should I be embarrassed when I pay to take part here? That's like saying only positive reviews should ever be left on yelp or something. Criticism is valid... and it's not directed at R&T anyway... but the constant low brow movies winning. Disappointment/dissent is as valid as cheering. It's part of Democracy. (I live in a country that's currently trying to subdue all but one way of thinking.) And none of it is about my pick not making it, thanks. I would pick 20 others over my pick. And your scolding is not needed... as again the criticism is not about Rob & Trin at all. Their picks are universally better almost every time.

Ae Jae

Okay? That's your opinion. Which you're entitled to but why are you complaining that someone else enjoys something you don't?

Ae Jae

Honestly I feel like when franchises win a poll the sequels should automatically follow or it's just incomplete and relying on others makes it frustrating. There are 11 films in the series and some I don't like but I'd still rather it be complete than dropped off or only doing certain ones

Ae Jae

Exactly. Polls are meant to bring out what people want and we're allowed to be disappointed. But in the end they need to pick what will bring in the views

James

Am I the only person that never has a problem with these polls regardless of what’s chosen? Half of the movies rob and Trin have reacted to I’ve never even heard of before but I still gave most of them a shot and 90% of the time it was really good

ruinfox

I usually dont have a problem with the choices regardless, but the few times i do i just keep it to myself, no point leaving a negative comment complaining about the winners, that doesnt help anyone especially R&T, dont get me wrong you're allowed to be upset and speak your mind, but do you really think leaving a comment complaining will help things or change things?. and yeah same some of these movies ive never heard of but watching with R&T i actually enjoyed quite a few, even more so than if i just watched the film on its own.

ruinfox

Its a small thing but you kinda also failed to consider what R&T want to watch, like obviously they pick their own picks each month, but they can also be excited to watch the poll winners you dislike too. just a thought im not trying to be rude.

Superpotroast

Why are you complaining about someone else complaining? I was just saying how I don't understand the appeal..I can't get into the specifics of my dislike because I don't want to spoil anything about the movie until they see it (if or when they do).. I also said, "to each their own"..As in, I have no problem if people like the movie, I just don't understand why people like it..

Ashlyn Grizzle

I hope they do wicked before the new one comes out at the end of this year! I’d love to see them but those views! Can wait to see these reactions as well!! Keep up the good work

Superpotroast

Because, unfortunately, the 'low brow' movies are what are popular among the populace and the more, let's say, 'artful' movies are just not mass appeal..Eventually, they will get through all these big franchises and popular blockbuster, popcorn movies and then maybe some of the lesser reacted films will win..But that'll probably take a long time..R&T have so far had a pretty good track record of picking good films for their personal picks and maybe sometime they can do a less popular, no blockbuster movie poll.. Also, as long as you're not being mean to anyone, I don't see why people can't express their disappointment in their thing not winning a poll.. That's the unfortunate side of a Democracy\poll..If you're not in the majority, be prepared for disappointment..

Jordan Tanner

Voting for Fantastic Four. I wish we had a mechanism for favoring less-popular (less well known) movies that have high critical acclaim. For example: • Furiosa • The Lighthouse • Killers of the Flower Moon • The Northman • Pig • Mandy • Longlegs • The Green Knight • The Witch • Nosferatu (2024) • Men Popular vote wins tends to favor widely known films, which can sometimes be less sophisticated. Thanks for hearing my rant. Love the channel.

James

Definitely agree with that R&T make movies a lot more enjoyable than just watching it alone. Every now and then there will be a movie or 2 that i don’t like because it doesn’t interest me or whatnot so I won’t watch it, that’s it.

YoureMrLebowski

The very reason I'm less inclined to vote for a franchise. Rarely does a franchise continue to impress and when I read the "watch them all" comments, even when most people agree not all the films are good, I shudder. It's hard to make a good reaction from a bad movie, imo.

James

FANTASTIC!

YoureMrLebowski

I'm ok with people complaining about polls. I gave Happy Death Day and Final Destination 2 my vote, but honestly would have picked "try again" if it was an option. I just think it's hard to get a good reaction from a so so movie.

Octavia

I said nothing about R&T. I've never seen them even actively say they disliked any movie. I clearly just stated the kind of action-y movie that I prefer... over a franchise of 11 car racing movies. (Some of which I have enjoyed, but it becomes monotonously formulaic.)

YoureMrLebowski

Jordan, you're gonna have to step up your rant game. I don't think you can say "thanks" in a rant. I'm not sure about the rules though.

YoureMrLebowski

I would like to see The Assassination of Jesse James by The Coward Robert Ford (2007) on a poll. A sophisticated poll for sophisticated people.

Jan T

@ RuinFox. Maybe those of us who are expressing disappointment at the choices ARE the ones who are thinking of the quality of movies Rob and Trin have to watch, or choose from every month. I really don’t think many in the group consider that at all. Just a thought. 🙂

TheGrouch74

Moan moan moan moan moan , moan! Throws dummy out the pram lol

WhatRabbitHole?

These are mostly far too cerebral for me.

Octavia

I don't know... apply that sentiment to life. If we never speak out... how will anything ever change? Think of V for Vendetta (which I often do)..... "And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well, certainly, there are those who are more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable. But again, truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. " Now, I don't *need* anything to change here. The scales are not that high. R&T are a comfort at the end of the day. But I do object to being told to just be quiet. And since my money goes here... I'm going to considerately express my opinion to the trend of winning movie vapidness. Again, in my opinion. As someone who participates a lot across the board here... with comments and likes... it is disappointing to be continually let down by the more silent majority. But it is on me where I spend my money. Thankfully, R&T picks usually save the month for me.

ruinfox

I get that you care about the quality of the films they will potentially react to but quality is subjective and everyone’s taste is different, I actually like this month’s picks. As one of R&T’s moderators, I can confidently say that venting under the poll doesn’t help Rob & Trin or the rest of the community in helpful way, nor will it change the outcome. If you want your feedback to count, just drop a quick comment listing the films you’d have picked instead of the winners from the poll and leave it at that. That’s constructive and actually useful instead of what currently gets commented, again not trying to be rude just trying to help.

Octavia

Again... I did just that. Expressed what I was disappointed in, voting wise... and gave a movie that I personally prefer in the action-y genre. It is not even arguable that F&F is not high caliber storytelling. Which doesn't mean they can't be enjoyed. Both can be true. I even said I've enjoyed a few. Then gave one of my preferences, emphasis on my preference. I don't expect anything other than stating my piece. Which doesn't differ at all from what you're advising.

Thurrak

because im paying to see reactions to good movies, these all suck so bad

Thurrak

Oof these are not great

Thurrak

its usually pretty disappointing to see all movies that not only have i seen but disliked as well as gotten horrible critic reviews, and it seems to happen very consistently these days

ruinfox

You did list your preference “The Fugitive”, which is exactly the kind of feedback that’s helpful. But you also slipped in the critique “mindless rote,” “sad testament,” and that’s the venting, that negativity we were trying to avoid, and im sorry but you cant honestly think that R&T enjoy reading those kind of comments on these polls? or the folk who voted for the winners. If you really want your input to stand out, just post: I would’ve picked The Fugitive, and leave it at that, thats an extreme example but just in general no side-comments on the poll winners. That way your recommendation is crystal clear and it actually gets counted as constructive feedback.

ruinfox

Thurrak what do you want R&T to do instead, there are 1.200 other paying supporters, people suggest their films and all of them get voted on, majority wins and they can only squeeze in 4 winners + 4 R&T picks per month. I understand you aren’t happy with the choices, and right now the only thing I can really tell you to help is just bank on liking the films R&T pick, you don’t have to stay pledged. You can unpledge until something you like comes on and then pledge for that month, remember you are here because you want to support Rob & Trin, no one is forcing you, I’m sorry if that comes off as rude it’s not I’m intention. There are a lot of people a lot of other paying supporters, and the majority has to take priority, in my opinion.

ruinfox

What films would you have preferred from the poll aside from the winners? Or do you not really like them all, there’s a few on there I’ve not heard of before.

ruinfox

these kinds of comments are perfect lol. and interesting choices as well 😅, R&T's picks are usually a good thing to wait for and these kind of comments do help. but yeah unfortunately with majority wins the more popular films do get voted for more than the type of films like you mention, but its really the only way to try keep things as fair for as many people as possible.

Thurrak

if people think any of these films are going to"bring in the views" they are sadly mistaken

Thurrak

But they are just mindless rote...

ruinfox

by saying that what are you trying to achieve? it wont get you anywhere so why say it at all?

Octavia

Seriously though... What kind of mentality is that? 'It won't get you anywhere, so why say anything at all'?! I mean this is a small scale, the fate of the world certainly doesn't hang in the balance... it's just movie critiques. (Which all movies are reviewed & critiqued... and there are objective measurements of artistic quality.) But that's just not a good mentality on every applicable level. Dissent is a key element to the exchange of ideas & balance, big and small. "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." No evil here, of course... but the sentiment should prevail thru all we do, regardless of achieving anything directly.

Octavia

Criticism is not negativity. That is part of the problem. Because it's only negative if you don't agree. If you're saying that movies aren't inherently one thing or the other... then that applies to criticism also. It's saying only one point of view is welcome. And that's no different from the movie or voting criticism that is trying to be silenced. If you just let us say our piece... the same way the rah-rahs say theirs... it wouldn't be a big deal at all. Or any deal at all. I guess I should never write a critical comment to Netflix about their programming... you know since I pay a monthly subscription... because they might not like reading it.

Andy Walker

Exactly. I don't want to be negative, but it's been like 6 months in a row of really weird choices.

Rob & Trin React!

The reason we added our own picks in the first place was so that we could please the masses and also add a little randomness to the Month. Trying to do the best of both worlds. We do a lot of movies each month overall. We totally do not take it personally but just wanted the majority to have their say outside of what we pick 💕 Everyone is entitled to speak out about what they would rather see and it is helpful overall 😊

Superpotroast

Did you mean to put this on someone else's comment because it doesn't apply to mine at all.. I have a personal problem with one film, it's just really not my cup of tea and certain things in it irk me..I have no problem with how R&T handle their polls, because I understand it would be impossible to please everyone at every poll..And if something wins that I'm not interested in, guess what, I don't watch it.. I would always prefer certain things win the poll but I understand people like different things..As mentioned in my original comment, I just don't understand how Now You See Me is so popular..

AnGeLuS

I simply love movies. I like all kinds of movies. I find interesting movies in every genre. I just want to be entertained. Rob & Trin's reactions are great because it gives me the feeling that I can watch the films with someone. I haven't seen any bad films here yet and I've always been entertained. I already know most of the films, but I like to watch them again here as a reaction. No matter which films win or are chosen each month, I always watch them all, without exception. The reason for this is Rob & Trin because they are both so friendly and likable. So don't always moan about these lists and just have a good time.

2026-09-19 16:00 Just a thought - what if we experimented with themed months to help elevate the overall quality of the films in the mix? For example, we could have a month limited to only IMDb 8.5+ rated films, another featuring only Oscar winners, or a month dedicated to movies by just one or two acclaimed directors (like Tarantino, Fincher, etc.). I think a big part of the frustration some people feel is that truly exceptional, critically acclaimed films often end up losing out to more mainstream blockbusters or mid-tier picks. By setting some higher standards for certain months, we can ensure that every option in the poll is high quality, which would give top-tier films a fairer chance and lead to more rewarding watch experiences overall.

we do tend to pick higher rated choices for our picks. When we did genre stuff or even a decade option it still ended up the same. I appreciate the ideas tho and will have a think about how we can do something new in July. Director only choices might be limited cause we have already done a lot of Fincher and Tarantino lol. Without feedback we are flying blind cause we have not seen most of the options anyways 🙈

WhatRabbitHole?

How about this for 1 or 2 months; no sci-fi, no fantasy, no horror, nothing with a sequel. I won't include superheroes because we already have plenty of time allocated for that. This would leave us with the meager offerings in drama, adventure, comedy, action, thriller, love story, western, historical, etc. I'm sure we can find a few that appeal to the masses. And then we can return to multi-genre bubblegum.

Large Big79

R&T picks will save us again 🙏

Gilstead

Thanks so much for the response and for everything you’re doing - seriously, your picks always end up saving the month for a lot of people. I totally get that it’s impossible to please everyone, and you're right that genre or decade themes don’t always guarantee different results. Still, it's a bit of a bummer to see people disappointed in the comments, and I just thought maybe a month or two of "best of the best" might help shift the vibe a bit. Totally fair point on directors - we have seen a lot of Tarantino and Fincher… but let’s be honest, can you ever really have too much of either? 😂Appreciate you taking the time to consider new ideas for July! ❤️ much love

There are other ways. We could create categories with thresholds, like IMDb or Letterboxd rating had to exceed x, or it has to appear in some article’s top 100 films, or it has to come from a more indy studio like A24 or NEON, or the worldwide box office has to be below a certain threshold, etc. One example could be: elevated horror month, where the director has to be Robert Eggers, Ari Aster, Jordan Peele, Alex Garland, or the film has to be generally accepted (like articles listing it) as “elevated horror”.

Rob & Trin React!

We will be ending the poll really soon because we need to know what we are watching tonight 💕 sorry it is a quick poll but time really snuck up on us lol. Will end in 2 hours from the time this message is posted

Jordan Tanner

That totally makes sense and I tend to enjoy y’all’s picks! 💪😎 If you want my perspective on it, the current movie selection process tends to reward name recognition over quality. With a large number of nominations and open voting, well-known but often mediocre films tend to win—not because they’re best, but because they’re the most familiar and least risky. This creates a dynamic where the “winning” film is rarely anyone’s favorite—just the one most people recognize. It’s a classic group decision-making trap: 10 people are trying to choose a restaurant. Seven votes are split across four amazing options, but Applebee’s gets three votes because it’s the most familiar. Even though the majority wanted something better, the group ends up somewhere mediocre—not because it was the top choice, but because it was the most recognizable. Ideas to Improve Selection Outcomes: • Use ranked-choice voting to better reflect collective enthusiasm—not just the largest first-place vote-getter. • Introduce a rotating curation team (or elected representatives) to shortlist a balanced set of high-quality options. • Require short “pitches” for each nomination to highlight lesser-known gems. • Set monthly themes or genre constraints to encourage variety and intentionality. This could also include constraints related to critic scores, sub genre (elevated horror), etc. • Apply handicaps to overexposed or low-effort picks (e.g., require extra support to advance). • Collect brief post-movie feedback to learn what resonates and improve future rounds. I think so many people get excited to suggest a movie, that when those movies get outvoted by mediocre movies, it can create discouragement. Y’all are great and I love the channel. Looking forward to whatever’s in store this month.

Rob and Trin have almost always been the draw for me. Dune Prisoners The Menu X-Men Logan Smile Contact Man of Steel

Really appreciate the well thought out suggestions, we have tried a few of these ideas in the past with a similar outcome so we decided to just say "any movie". BUT there was less complaints overall. If Patreon would allow more than 1 pinned post we could have a Movie discussion post for comments regarding people choices etc. We made a Discord for this very thing but I know that people do not always want to join Discord and in an ideal world we could have all the recommends in there. We do our best to keep an eye out for what people are asking for but it is a very small pool to pull from in the grand scheme of things. We will do our best to factor all your points in and talk about how we can change it up for July 💕

ruinfox

Sorry Superpotroast i was trying to reply to the user Thurrak not yourself.

Thurrak

I think the Rob & Trin picks definitely adds some balance which is nice, and I'm genuinely more interested in seeing reactions from you guys on films that YOU want to see.

Elle

True. I haven't even seen the entire franchise myself, but the original trilogy at least is pretty great! I'm not a big stickler for having to watch them all once the first has been watched, but some franchises I'm in it just because lol. Like TWD for example, the main show lost some flavour for me but I never stopped watching, and some of the spin off's were imo horrific, but I watched them anyway as I just like the universe :) End of the pay though, votes will be cast and I'm hapy to go with whatever wins. Always something I'm in to each month. Is why I keep paying :D
