Mission Impossible 1996 FULL REACTION

Comments

Octavia

This is one of the those rarer franchises that never really disappoint. This first movie is closest to the original tv series... more of an old-fashioned spy game. #2 is the weakest for me personally. But from #3 on... pure adrenaline bangers.

Nina

This was the first movie Tom ever produced. He's been heavily involved with the franchise ever since as a producer. It's such a passion project for him. The water tank explosion was also the first stunt he ever did - so we have to thank this movie and Brian de Palma for that. I love that they showed it in slow motion to make sure everyone sees that it's actually Tom doing that. Such a great shot. That was dangerous as hell with all that broken glass. Even though it's kind of harmless compared to the things he did later in his career 😍😍

Anthony Ancona

I saw this in theaters nearly 30 years ago. 😳 Thank you Rob and Trin for getting around to this franchise!

Nina

Tom Cruise is so hot. 🥵

Nina

No one thinks about the knife. Even though they showed it three times. First when Sarah gets stabbed, then when Krieger wanted to kill that guy and then when he dropped the knife in the vault - they even showed that in slow motion. But most people don't pick up on it. 😀

Kitikits

You guys practically predicted everything lol. Great reaction! Rob’s sussy face cracks me up. All Claire, beware. 😂

Rob & Trin React!

Not just a Claire, all should be careful from my sussy brain stems :)

Nina

Always pay attention to how the stunts are filmed. They are not hiding anything, you can always see Tom in frame actually doing the stunt. This is what separates his movies from most other films. You're going to be blown away at most of the things he does. And you'll be wondering a few times if it's CGI - but it's actually not. But that's what makes it special. If you know the actor is actually doing it you feel the fear, it keeps the adrenalin going and the stakes are higher. it's really important for Tom that the audience doesn't just watch the movie, they experience it.

Cindy

Your reaction to this movie is the #1 reason why I only subscribe to you. You pay attention to details and make intelligent commentary. I appreciate you both.

Michael Celia

Let's face it, we're here to see Tom Cruise do his own stunts... The biggest (and really only) complaint of this movie when it came out was how convoluted the plot was, but it really isn't based on today's standard...I guess we just all were so used to simple action movies in the 90s lol

Jose Dominguez

Superman is out hope it comes to the channel soon!

Cindy

I agree with everything you just wrote. I hope if they react to #2 and are not as thrilled (although in its own right and if not compared it is also good) they won't give up because they do continue to get better.

Cindy

I would assume all that glass was sugar glass or breakaway glass, so actually not dangerous.

Nina

yeah you're probably right. Didn't think of that. 😂 I just watched the making-of for that scene. Still one of my favorites

Ugly Pig

3 really sets the tone for the rest of the series.

MarySoul

He may be a cuckoo, but nobody does what he does so well, and he has been doing it for ages, and looking very fine doing it, btw. I really love his movies, and the passion and effort he puts in them. Graham Norton has said of him that he is as magnetic as he seems and he is never in off mode, being “Tom Cruise” is his 24h job and he will enchant anyone near him and learn everyone’s name, no matter if you are a fellow guest or a doorman.

Octavia

Tom Cruise makes very good movies that I always enjoy. I don't think he's cuckoo, really... lol. Just indoctrinated and insulated. I know he's jumped in to save people in distress several times in real life. If I was in trouble, I'd want TC nearby. We just won't share koolaid.

MarySoul

Agreed, not to go deeper into it (I was just jokingly summarizing) YES, I do believe he was made a target very young for the same reasons he is as appealing as he is, indoctrinated into a all consuming and engulfing situation that has worked his mind to the point where he can be very detached from from reality, not because of cruelty or insanity but because he has been isolated in a place of worship and deep control for far too long. Sadly. I still love him, and truly my relationship with movies wouldn’t be the same without Joel Goodson, Maverick, Brian Flanagan, Ron Kovic, Lt. Daniel Kaffee, Ethan Hunt, Frank T.J. Mackey, David Aames, Chief John Anderton and so on and on and on but forever and ever, personally, specially Jerry Maguire. 😎

Please continue this series each month as your picks and don't wait for polls!

Tyrone Tyrone

😆Tom Cruise has got Ninaofthe90s feeling like Nina with "Table-kun" in the Anime Code Geass.😂

Tyrone Tyrone

Wow, Trin was like she's French, don't trust her.😆
