Kindness really IS punk rock.

Not wasting time :)

I’m super happy that you guys did this movie and I’m looking forward to the future DCU reactions when we get there. Im glad you mentioned that Gunn and Snyders DC visions are not comparable. Each of them has their own style and it’s very different, but that’s not to say either one is particularly bad. James Gunn did guardians of the galaxy and the suicide squad so you can definitely see his style of directing and writing it’s very unique. I appreciate them skipping the origin story since like you said it’s been done to death by this point. Jor-el was in fact Bradley cooper btw aka rocket from guardians. The Peacemaker cameo caught me off guard too on my first watch but come on who doesn’t want to see some John Cena even if it’s for a second. This movie actually reignited my interest is superhero’s, I’ve always been a marvel person but after I watched this Ive kinda gotten more into DC. I will say that I enjoyed all the cast, Lois and Lex were great definitely standouts. We also got a bunch of hero introductions, I’ve never heard of Mr terrific or Element man before this. The next DCU movie in the line up is supergirl coming out in July I believe so I’m hoping we get more Krypto in that. Also fun fact I just learned, one of the reporters on the TV was Christopher Reeves son.

I absolutely loved the film, but my only criticism is the lack of Lois and Clark’s dynamic. Especially since they had great chemistry, it felt like wasted potential. Hopefully, we’ll get more screen time with those two in the future.

came to say this exact thing <3

I personally love "Man of Steel." It's just such a great movie. I also really like "Batman v Superman." This new Superman movie is pretty good too. Of course, I would have liked to see more of Henry Cavill, but at the same time, I'd also like to see more of the new one. They're two completely different kinds of Superman movies, but I find both very interesting. In general, I just really like DC and Marvel movies.

As a huge dc fan (and not a huge marvel fan) its nice to see dc and the characters i care about finally getting some hype around it again. For so long there was a drought in the dc movie space with nothing at all exciting apart from the joker and batman elseworlds. With this new universe Im excited and cant wait for each and every upcoming project. im glad they skipped straight into an active dcu this time, we dont need to spend years creating origins and building up characters everyone already knows. The dcu feels like a comic book come to life which is something the previous dceu was trying to avoid.

Superman has a special place in my heart, not just because I used to watch it with my dad (he loved Gene Hackman), but I love my heroes to be pure heart, to have no doubts about doing good, and that's the core of Superman. That's why I personally love Reeves' Superman. He was not just a special Superman for those of us that grew up with him, but he was also a real life Super-Man. So I really like that the message of this movie, that being good, be Kind is Punk Rock, it can be really Punk Rock, I think that is the true legacy of Superman.

I loved mr. terrific also they filmed the military beach base five minutes from my house i got to see the tents and some of the trailers

RiseofOwnage

No, Krypto was completely cgi throughout the whole movie. He is based on Gunn's own dog

Great reaction guys! This was the first Superman I truly connected with and I think they did great with his character in this movie. I loved how much hope this movie inspired. My favorite part was the kids in Jarhanpur lifting up the Superman flag and everyone, young and old, calling out to their source of hope to save them it was so beautiful to watch. And then even when everyone else left the one kid holding it up by himself in the face of an entire military just whispering to himself Superman Superman holding onto the last bit of hope he had and being rewarded with his call being answered indirectly by Superman. Because the Justice Gang weren’t willing to step in to an international conflict until they saw the hope that Superman inspired in the Jarhanpurian people. A phenomenal way to show how an act of kindness can ripple through and affect change. Beautiful movie with a beautiful message it was my favorite superhero movie of the year. Thanks for watching it with us!

Nathan Fillion clearly described the fact that Superman’s Glasses 🤓 have Tech making it so that people literally can’t remember who he is… and Lex is human, so he too is affected by the glasses.

Fun facts: Superman’s Dad is in fact Bradly Cooper 😆, Alan Turdyk & Pom Klementieff (Mantis in Marvel) are two of the superbots, Krypto is based off James Gunn’s newest dog Ozu, He was actually inspired by his dog to make the movie while he was getting attacked by him on the kitchen counter so they scanned his dog and walla we have Krypto. The Element man’s actually name is “Metamorpho”. Frank Grillo was suppose to have white hair cause he was transferred over from Creature Commando to SM but due to his responsibility on Tulsa king he couldn’t dye it…if you want anymore fun facts make sure you guys check out the 1 hour documentary “Adventures of making Superman” with James Gunn on HBO in the bonus section. Here is the list for (New DC universe) upcoming •Lanterns - Early 2026 •Supergirl (DCU) - June 26 2026 •Clayface (DCU) - September 11 2026 •Superman: Man OfTomorrow (DCU) - July 9 2027 •Batman: The Brave And The Bold (DCU)- TBA •The Batman II (Elseworlds)- October 7 2026 •Constantine II - TBA

My only quibble is that Gunn just recycled the plot from Guardians 2 with Peter, Ego, and Yondu. Your real parents are the ones there all along. Because in every Superman incarnation that I've ever watched... Clark has always both adored & appreciated his adoptive parents while also having regard for his bio parents. I personally don't think it was necessary to make Jor-El & Lara into bad guys. Otherwise, it was a colorful, enjoyable Superman. I think I enjoyed David Corenswet as the next best to Christopher Reeve.

Hey, you’re spoiling about Frank Grillo. Please edit your comment.

No I’m not chill out

Great reaction! And Superman does kill btw 😅

peacemaker season 2 is a direct sequel to this movie

mikekillam

I love this movie so much. I was not sold on Nicholas Hoult when they announced his casting, but man did he knock it out of the park as Lex Luthor. I love that they didn't kill off the villain in their first movie like 98% of comic book movies. I hope we have years and years of being able to watch these great young actors build off each other as Superman and Lex Luthor grow older. ALSO, I would heavily recommend watching Peacemaker in the near future. It's also a James Gunn project, and one of the few things transferring over from the old DCEU to the new Gunn-era DCU. Without spoilers it's harder to describe, but basically the reset happens between seasons 1 & 2. Peacemaker season 2 is fully canon to the new stuff. ALSO ALSO, because you're talking about this now while I'm typing... Almost all the scenes for Krypto were indeed CGI but there was a stand-in on set for certain scenes for technical reasons. James Gunn's dog Ozu was 3D scanned for the film and turned into Krypto.

"I know Superman" two minutes later "Superman can't lose".

Got bored and decided to rewatch this with you guys. I can't wait until we get back to the Snyder verse. Also you guys haven't watched the finale venom movie yet either. We're going to need a super hero catch up poll. 🤣
