Yay, my first time to see this! Well, I saw a poorly edited reaction to this years ago. I remember where I was when this happened. Watching the breaking news at home before going to my dad's restaurant. I was 15, almost 16. This occurred on April 25th, My birthday is May 4th.

Gives new meaning to the phrase "they're cooked" I like how they throw you right into it. The writers trust that the audience knows enough to follow the basics - the dosimeters not being adequate for example. If memory serves, they do explain later on in far more detail, but do it in such a brilliant way as to make it completely comprehensible to even dumb people like me. Also, I recognize a number of actors who later appeared in Andor...must've had some of the same producers...

I tried watching this show twice before and could not get past episode 1 because I was so frustrated by the negligence, denial, and stupidity of some of the characters. Now that you guys are watching it too, I feel a bit braver to also finally watch it until the end.

Insane coincidence I was just about to check this show out since I’ve been seeing reels on YouTube about it. Really glad you guys are doing it so I can watch it with you. Chernobyl has always been fascinating to me, so much history and facts about it. Potassium Iodine is actually good to prevent radiation poisoning from affecting your thyroid which is the most easily effected part of the body. The iodine basically fills up your thyroid so it can’t absorb radiation

You just feel uneasy watching these five episodes. It's sometimes worse than a horror series because it's simply reality. Radioactive radiation is so frightening because it can be so deadly. But you don't see death coming because it's completely invisible. The creators of this show have perfectly captured this atmosphere.
