That opening notice regarding Castro and Cuba really happened. I was living in Florida at the time and it was referred to as the Mariel Boatlift. It was also true Castro released criminals and mental patients and sent them also as a symbolic FU.

So happy i got to watch my favourite film along with you both! And Trin was right that scene where Tony puts on the hat was unscripted and another fun fact Al Pacino snorted so much Powdered Milk in this film in 2015 he claimed to still have nasal cavities issues

Great movie. I’m realizing it’s a spin on Moby Dick motifs, classic American novel. ahab brining down the entire boat trying to catch the uncatchable whale that give him his Scar. My theory is Tony’s dad gave him the scar. When Elvira says he’d be a terrible father he lashes out in violent rage. Speaking of his own father “ Hey forget Papa, we never had one, okay? He was a bum.”
