I like the movie. It is a good sequel to the first book. The movie was made by Mike Flanagan, so it features many familiar faces from his series, such as Hill House. Mike Flanagan always enjoys working with people he knows from other projects.

Stephen King said he never had any intention of writing a sequel to The Shining but fans over the years would ask him what ever became of Danny when he was older and he decided it was a worthy idea to explore.

The little boy from E.T, who also played the father in Hill House was Jack Nicholson here. From the side, it didn't look too bad, either.

There are vampires in the Stephen King universe (Salem's Lot), but they're more of the traditional sort....I like this kind of vampire, refreshingly different. The Overlook burns down at the end of the book version of The Shining, so it sort of ends there, but obviously not in the Kubrick film adaptation, so this sequel is a good combination of both the book and the movie. Haven't read Doctor Sleep, so don't know how it's handled there.
