I love this movie so much but sadly a few years ago, it came out that most of this movie was not true and that they tricked him for his wealth. I recommend giving it a read online

Well that’s not exactly true. I don’t remember the details but I do remember Mike lying about a few things. I suggest reading the court papers Mike filed BUT also read the ones the Touey’s filed in response. I don’t believe it’s exactly as black & white (no pun intended) as them “tricking” him.

Man, I can't wait to watch this! I've always loved this movie so much and ofc, it's not as accurate as it is represented but it's still very moving and makes me very emotional in some scenes. I probably haven't seen it in 10+ years. Thanks to whoever suggested and everyone that voted. I haven't been this excited for a movie on the channel in a WHILE!!!

It was a conservatorship, so technically they did nothing "Illegal", but the entire reason for the conservatorship was janky and very wobbly, ethically... Basically, they got rich off him and he didn't get much of the money, but was provided with the opportunity, but it was unethical... Just white people trying to play the savior again...

I have read the court files, I just didn't feel like writing the whole story plus you got some things wrong yourself so just I'm just gonna leave it there and move on.

yeah I looked into it at the time and I can't exactly remember. I'd have to look back into it but it was not as black and white as people thought and for many years, I think I remember he wanted to continue living with them from memory as well after all of that

They really need to put barely based on a true story in this. Still a great film though

It was certainly convenient timing on Oher's part... after his career washed up and wanted to change his tune for more money. He claimed he didn't receive any payment for The Blind Side book. But that has been proven untrue. The Tuohys provided documentation of paying Michael over $138k in multiple checks from 2007 on. What else might he have exaggerated? Goodness knows how the $34 million that Oher made as an NFL player wasn't enough for him. He's nuts claiming the family made 300 million off of the movie. Lol. Saying they profited from the 'lies'... when obviously, so did he. Would he have had an NFL career otherwise? It's just about greed, probably from both sides, plain & simple.

Yep that’s what I remember from what I read. Sounded fishy to me from the start. I’m sure both sides did things that the other didn’t necessarily agree with, but if there was no book, no movie, would he have come after them the way he did. Doubt it
