BSG S4E14 Blood On the Scales FULL REACTION

You could argue that Zarek was trying to save lives here, at least that's what he would say. He did put the proposal to the Quorum before having them killed, and he doesn't seem to look happy about it - leaning on the bulkhead before he has his heavies murder them. He comes across like he could be the Magneto of BSG.

I think Gaeta's flaw here is that he isn't ruthless enough. He was imagining a scenario where people would realise that he was right and they were wrong, and then they would thank him for helping them to see he was right. Then he'd go on, leading the fleet to Earth, as Admiral Gaeta. Zarek wanted to lead the fleet as President Zarek. I don't think he really cared about what anybody else thought of him, unless that interfered with his power. If he had to have people killed, meh. We've got thousands of them.
