Alexander Fess - in memoriam (Patreon)

Dear member,

I am saddened and shocked by the premature passing of my long-standing retoucher Alexander Fess, which was communicated to me two days ago.

Alexander was just 38.

This post is devoted to his memory.

I met Alexander through Russian model Anna Venice, who introduced me to him back in 2021.

Since then I have been using his services and never looked back.

I communicated with him regularly, often on a daily basis.

Although I did occasionally use other retouchers, Alexander was always my first choice, when he was available,

He was a true artist who could take a good photo and turn it into a work of art.

My own work benefited tremendously from my collaboration with Alex.

In this post, I include 16 relatively “safe” photos he edited that mark my collaboration with Alex, including three with Anna shot in Paris in June 2022 - the second, third and fourth photos in this post.

As the leading image in this post I chose the one that adorns my profile on Patreon, which features Ashley Ashton in a red dress against the backdrop of a Santorini sunset. It was retouched by Alexander Fess.

Although it was shot nearly four years ago, I never felt the need to replace or refresh it - as I feel it is timeless and iconic.

I also include other photos retouched by Alex that I feel have stood the test of time - most of these were awarded FPIs status on Purpleport (or should be if they haven't already).

Lastly, I include one photo from the last set Alex edited for me - featuring Chiara and Martina on the beach in Naxos - which marks the sudden and sad end of a wonderful collaboration.

“Sasha”, as was affectionately known to his close ones, was suffering from various health conditions. However, there was nothing, to my knowledge, that can explain his premature passing.

He will be sorely missed.

Alexander Fess lives behind an 18-year old daughter.
