Yup, no other possible rational explanation!

So, in this alternate thing, Craig and Fiona are or were a pair. Hmm...

Senko

I'm guessing are, if they're broken up it'd be a little odd to still be living together and having his photo on her dresser. It also would do a lot for training to act like a girl if she's got a boyfriend. Also that is very messy clothing.

Things are about to get real, so to speak :P ! I recognize that bikini on the photo... This universe is really fun, especially the way you're narrating it ! Still doesn't explain why it's Jess' (body) meeting Lisa in that café !

It is definitely very messy. I put the optional "were" only because Fiona mentioned it was face down. I don't know the significance of that. It seems they have separate rooms? I don't know if this is a dorm, an apartment, or what their situation was previously.

The question of them being broken up but living together actually makes for some good dialogue in the comic that I might use to replace some other dialogue I'm not happy with! So don't be surprised if some dialogue about this appears in about ten strips. Also, I have a friend who dated a girl, rented a place with them, broke up, decided to renew the lease together with their ex for another year (why!?), things got worse, and now a year later is going to move out.

So confirmation, definitely not wearing dreamband. But reality has changed. Balance is off, and things are “too detailed for a dream”. Fiona also fell down and it hurt enough to say “ow”, which usually wouldn’t happen in a dream. So evidence points to either *actually* being in an alternate reality, or just having an absurdly detailed and realistic dream.

It's entirely possible this is still the Dreamband. Felix finishing the mermaid tale and getting to bed is likely still part of the simulation that Jess had devised. She may simply have instructed the Dreamband to stimulate a female body in "hard" mode, with no help at all from the device. Like in a game that automatically aims at enemies at easy difficulty but can also be set up to be much more challenging.

The answer to me is it's another program. There were questions in the comments section about the nori story and how that was supposed to help felix learn about being a girl. The answer to that is now obvious. It wasn't. It was merely a distraction so that Jess can work on this simulation and to have felix live a set period of time as a girl and to have it feel as real as humanly possible. That's my theory anyway :P

RobinHarper

Possibly, but the reason I heard was that they couldn't afford to rent on their own and didn't want to or couldn't find another roommate.

Senko

Nothing wrong with matching wits with a Sicilian as long as death isn't on the line.

Senko

That sounds like two of the characters in close enough. Good show that shame it was cancelled.

But we've been told that the Dreamband only adds extra sensations, it doesn't remove the ones from your real body. So someone can open their real eyes and see reality, regardless of what's going on in VR. So something weird is going on!

Being broken up and living together also plays well into what Fiona told Lisa and Sophie. Jess knows about this, and may be using this info... 🙂

I'm thinking it's a secret photo that Fiona had printed out. Face down so if Craig walks in he won't see it. Maybe she secretly has a crush she's not acting on?
