Wereballoon. Vox inflates the original wereballoon for a full moon party, it pops as he inflates it, snapping his skin. This transfers the ballonthropy onto Vox, turning him into an "inanimate"(?) balloon in search of the next victim. Or pooltoy instead of balloon.
