N-SMART CLIP FOR SNAP HEAP

This snap heap rack is a detail preserving soft clipper!

N-SMART CLIP solves a big problem with traditional soft clipping of signals with low frequency content. A strong sub fundamental can result in loss of mid and high frequency information when being soft clipped too hard. This can be great for sound design purposes but limits you to gain much higher RMS while retaining sound quality.

While a regular soft clipper will saturate the whole frequency spectrum, this snap heap rack adds soft clipping to the sub frequency region independently from the rest of the spectrum. This results in the sub being held back from distorting and squarifying the rest of the frequency spectrum. This results in a more detailed, but still saturated signal and ultimately helps you get more RMS out of any sound.

N-SMART CLIP can dial in this detail preservation method, which means you can find a great middle ground between traditional soft clipping and detail preserving soft clipping.

PRESERVE at 0% (middle) will fully saturate the sub frequency region independently, while turning this macro up to 100% (right) will create headroom by lowering the sub region down to -3db.

This rack uses a minimum phase filter crossover to process the sub independently! If you want to use this rack for Mastering purposes, please consider using N-SMART CLIP X.

PRESERVE: Lets you adjust the amount of detail preservation. At -100% (left) the sub frequency content will bypass the saturator and go straight into the final soft clipper, resulting in traditional soft clipping. At 0% (middle) the sub frequency saturator is fully active, soft clipping the sub to 0dB. At 100% (right)PRESERVE will create sub frequency headroom by lowering the sub down to -3dB.

This snap heap rack is a detail preserving linear phase soft clipper!

This rack uses a linear phase filter crossover to process the sub independently! This is ideal for mastering purposes!

N-SMART CLIP X achieves a linear phase filter crossover by using convolution!

This means that ANY signal that goes through this rack will be DELAYED by ~12ms! There is no latency compensation!
