N-SPECTRAL SCALER FOR LIVE 11.2.11
N-Spectral Scaler is a minimum phase spectral notch filtering rack allowing you to filter out notes throughout the frequency spectrum!
This rack focuses on filtering out note-specific frequencies between a range of 300hz-3200hz! This frequency range contains the harmonically relevant frequencies that determine the scale a sound can play in.
N-Spectral Scaler leaves the lows and highs untouched while also splitting the transients from the processed mid-frequencies, allowing for greater preservation of sound quality. it also lets you adjust the frequency ceiling of the processing, which can help better blend the effect.
The biggest feature this rack offers are the scale macro variations, which offer Major, Minor and Phrygian Dominant scales. You can create and add additional scales and save them within the rack using the macro variations.
Additionally, the Maj / Min scale variations have one very dissonant note disabled by default to offer pentatonic-style filtering while also displaying which note was turned off to favor overall tonal harmony.
FEATURES:
Macro variations: Lets you select between major/minor and phrygian dominant macro presets. You can create and save your own here.
CEILING: Adjusts the frequency ceiling of the notch filtering system. Helps to blend the process depending on the complexity of the input signal.
C-B: lets you disable specific notes across the frequency spectrum.
AMOUNT: Adjusts the amount of spectral filtering. 50-80% is a good midrange and 100% is for extreme cases.
UPDATED:
processing now starts at ~300hz instead of 130hz, reducing post ringing and cpu usage greatly!
