What this series truly excels at is just family and what that word means to different people, I also experienced profound emotions during that get together scene just from flashing back to moments of when I grew up with people all around me and how secure I felt. My situation was obviously different from what was actually happening but it was those memories the series brought out anyway. Their bond already so important and beautiful. I just love this series and everything it stands for..I love how China incorporates excellent narratives around the main relationship, making sure everything gets that equal care and love. That’s why I love the Untamed so much. While it couldn’t directly express their love through a kiss the narrative around them made sure to emphasize that as much as humanly possible to create a love story in all forms, from family love, self love, and true love. This series takes those excellent qualities and display’s this with grace and beauty.

Su Yu‘s father and Ms. Zhou are just neighbors with a slightly ambiguous relationship since they both left their ex. And he has known for long that his father had feelings for Ms. Zhou, but never make a confession considering Su Yu's feelings.

The two families were so close that Su Yu and his father did saw duo duo as their sister/daughter. You can read it from their face in the past Episode which duoduo was thought get lost. As for Ms.Zhou, they didn't set the record straight.

12:26 explaining the wordplay joke aunt zhou (duoduo's mom) made duoduo: im Sagittarius (she4 shou3 zuo4 射手座) aunt zhou: i think you look like you are "made of meat" (rou4 zuo4 肉做) - which is a cute way to say that you're chubby and cute

13:53 song lyrics translation "but it's you who brought me the connection (of kinship)" [not worries] that makes a complete home

Kent i didnt get that heartache bit as well even in mandarin - but yes we found out later that Su Yu meant to say that his selfless love/worry for duoduo and aunt zhou became bigger than his selfish want for a love that isnt shared - and the tension/emotion that he was going through upon realising that he'd be a 'previous child' from both his parents' past marriage.

30:31 yes chinese tends to call closer family friends/even strangers Aunt or Uncle even though you arent blood related, as a form of respect

100 % agree. I love that aspect of this show. Family can be blood or what you make it to be.
