Building a figure (anatomy) (Patreon)

Rough sketch and then I draw with a shorthand over my roughs, focusing on the shapes I want to bring out from it; how I want to exaggerate or simplify it. The silhouette is often really important to me so I'm paying attention to those decisions as well. 

Some lines can be simplified or exaggerated but doing it in a way that highlights aspects of real anatomy can be tricky. Takes a lot of practice to get right and using fewer lines requires higher precision in your judgment. It's a fun tight rope to walk and this is an example of how I begin to do that.
