Maybe she called them and came back? Or maybe she didn't have a chance to leave before the wave hit. Edit - Whoops, I changed the order AND the names in the dialogue because Alexia is the one looking at the pool, so she says the line about all the water being splashed out. Your GoogleDocs edit puts the lines back in request order but now they're talking to themselves.
