We were getting ready for a costume party, and the rule was simple: we got to pick each other’s outfits. I handed Lucy the remote with a smirk.“Alright,” I said, “surprise me.”

She didn’t hesitate. A pink flash later, I felt heavier, fuller—suddenly I was a mature forty-something woman with soft curves and an unmistakably mom-energy figure. I looked down at myself and laughed.“This isn’t much of a costume,” I said. “I just look like someone’s mum.”

Lucy giggled, clearly pleased with herself. “Relax, I’m just warming up with the settings… hmm—ah, there we go.”

I shifted in place, very aware of the new weight pulling at my back, before another zap hit. Just like that, I was me again—22, familiar, balanced. I barely had time to react before another pink flash washed over me.

This time, I was standing there in a skin-tight Supergirl suit, hugging every curve. Then I noticed it—the extra weight behind me. Lucy had definitely gone all-in.“Wow,” I said, glancing over my shoulder. “This thing is… weighted.”

I gave an exaggerated wiggle, making her laugh, but just as I turned back around, she zapped me again. I felt my chest grow, the suit stretching, ripping the supergirl logo right off the suit and adjusting as if it was barely keeping up. After a second, the weight really set in, and I shifted to get comfortable.“Jeez,” I said, half-laughing, half-complaining, “there is not much support in this outfit.”

Lucy was practically crying with laughter. “Worth it,” she said. “Okay—my turn. Do me.”

She handed me the remote, and I didn’t disappoint. One zap later, she was a bimbo-styled Zatanna with a dramatic hourglass figure and a confident little pose to match. She looked down at herself, then back up at me with a grin.“Okay,” she admitted, “I get it now. Cute outfit, terrible support… but wow.”

She struck a pose, then laughed. “We are definitely stealing the spotlight tonight.”

We both burst into giggles, already knowing we’d be turning heads the second we walked in.
