What is Scale Glamour? (Patreon)
Content
An ability inherent to the Valydr-Grangen and made necessary for survival when infiltrating or traversing Human lands, Scale Glamour allows one of the Dragonfriend's Children to walk amongst Humans without fear or suspicion. Considered divinely gifted by some or an enchantment brought about by draconic cunning, this potent spell hides a Valydr's dragon features from sight, obscuring them beneath a human-appearing mask.Scaly skin becomes tattooed flesh, talons shorten to thick nails, and other features such as horns, wings, or tails become as invisible. Another potent feature of the Glamour is not only concealing the outward appearance but also the inherent abilities of the Valydr: strength, ferocity, and sharpened senses are made closer to Human level so as to not draw attention when they must traverse lands not friendly to them. The only beings able to pierce through this obscuring magic are those who inherently carry or possess Dragon blood within them, as well as any descendants of the Woaden tribes of old who once served Dragons as loyally as knights. There are upwards of three stages of the Scale Glamour, the first of which being the Human appearing guise. Some features of their true nature remains: sharper than normal teeth, bright flame-like eyes, and heightened senses and reflexes. The use of their Draconic powers causes this Glamour to break in increments, slowly giving way to the second stage. In this form, the scales, claws, fangs, horns, fins, etc become more and more visible. Any inherent magic or talents known to the individual Valydr are also strengthened (Kindling Breath, Beast-Speech, etc). The third and final barrier of the Glamour conceals an Awakened Valydr's true level of strength, durability, wrath, and in some cases, size. Closer to Dragon now than Human, the third and final stage is a Valydr-Grangen's truest form. In this shape, such things as tails or wings are made flesh again, slowly degrading Human emotions to replace them with a Dragon's implacable and well-earned superiority.(ART BY JACK RIP)
