Not me thinking there was actually a chance Rudy would be happy with just one partner 💀 My respect for Roxy has gone out the window as well. I don’t mean to offend anyone that may have similar beliefs to love more than one person at the same time (you do you) but I’m annoyed they actually went this route.

Rudy was completely devastated after his loss. He hadn't really eaten for several days or even weeks, and whatever he did manage to eat came right back up. He was truly on the verge of dying (which is why his face looks so gaunt and hollowed out in the anime). Roxy wanted to do something for Rudy because she knew for a fact that he wouldn't be able to get back on his feet on his own. She asked Elinalise and Talhand for advice, but they just wanted to leave him alone. When Roxy pressed them on what could be done, Talhand mentioned that the best way to get a man out of such a deep depression is through sex, and Elinalise agreed. Roxy didn't really want to do it at first, but since there are no psychiatrists or modern therapies in this world, there was simply no better alternative in that moment to save his life. It doesn't really make things any better if you dislike polygamy altogether. But for me, at least, it makes it more bearable—and Roxy is portrayed much more poorly in the anime than she actually was.

Ok the anime actually adapted this in a pretty bad way they made Roxy look worse than she should. In the novel they make it pretty clear that Rudy was dying he didn’t eat or drink for weeks. Roxy started to panic bc she was going to loose someone she cared about so she went to Elinalise and the party for help. They told her that the best way to cure a man who’s down in the dumps or lonely is sex as the concept of depression isn’t a thing so they don’t know how to treat it sex was a way in real life to treat depression during thos times as well. Roxy asked could Elinalise do it but she refused because she’s sylphies grandmother. So they put that in her head Roxy was trying everything she could to help Rudy and nothing worked she didn’t just do this as the first option she tried everything before because she know the boundaries she was crossing she decided that she would pay the consequences so she decided to go through with it. Rudy was so weak that you could see bone they didn’t show it enough he looked to healthy and they skipped that whole dialogue and made it seem like she just had sex with him just bc. But the facts was he would’ve died leaving his wife and kids alone. Roxy was expecting right after it for Rudy to hate her and for him and her to go separate ways she was worried about Saving his life but she also loved him. And last the decision to Marry Roxy was completely different Rudy wasn’t going to do it but Elinalise lied to Rudy and said that Roxy told her that she was pregnant with his kid basically guilt tripping him into marrying her. Elinalise cared about Roxy so she didn’t want Rudy to abandoned her but she also just found out she’s related to sylphie. Hope this helps you understand what happens more bc when I first seen this I was mad at her but the. I read it and they didn’t adapt this part correctly at all. It doesn’t excuse her actions but it gives you a better understanding on why she did it she went through every option and that was her last one.

It’s totally understandable to be annoyed by this episode. Roxy is easily one of my favorite characters, and yet I’m embarrassed to watch this episode. In the light novel, it was somewhat more acceptable because there were some reasons behind it, but the anime version didn’t explain where Roxy got that idea from, which makes her the “villain” of the story.

Yeah, they really should have made two episodes out of it instead of trying to cram it all into one.

Some Kinda Abomination

I could sit here and add to the many points that everyone here has already said. And I feel like imma get hate for what I’m about to say, but I saw someone else say it on a Reddit post a little bit ago and it’s got me thinking the same thing. I actually prefer the anime’s version of events compared to the LN, in the LN both Rudy and Roxy have no agency and because of stuff Elinalise tells the both of them they feel like they have to get married. Compare that to here, it was their own decision and they are going to own up to it together and tell his current wife. It’s not at all morally a good thing, but that’s kinda the point. They know they’ve done something that can’t forget or take back, so they are moving forward together. I will say the only thing that shouldn’t have been cut from the anime was the conversation Rudy and Roxy had the next morning. That talk was the real reason Rudy was able to get back to some kind of normal, not the sex they had.

It's really sad to think that Elina really went that far to get Rudy to marry Roxy 😳 It makes me wonder how different the next episode is compared to the novel.

Like it or not Roxy actually saved Rudys life here. If she didnt do what she did he most likely would have died. To what you said at the end of the video. It doesnt really leave room for Eris because Rudy doesnt even really like Eris at this point or even thinks about getting with her after she traumatized him for 2 years. Even if Sylphie would accept that, Rudy would have been more than happy to have survived the fallout. He wouldnt even think of Eris. A Roxy situation wouldnt happen again, he learned from that. So whatever her role will be I'm curious of that. I'm actually more afraid of Eris cutting down Roxy and Sylphie since she doesnt seem like someone who would want to share and she has a very short temper. And if that were to happen Rudy would go against her. damn I'm spiraling, I should stop. I think its gonna be real interesting.
