Hey, I wanted to try this more traditional dialogue test box. Let me know what you think. Should I keep the old one or start using this new one??

This is so much better.

Julian J.

Personally, i really like the new dialogue bubble, like that it's easier to know who's talking with multiple characters. Also i really like your comics Anya, you're really good at it.

Stella Springer

If you stuck with the old one you could use colored text to help differentiate when more than 2 characters are talking

Lurker

I like it. You could keep this but still use the old style for texts and similar messages. You could also add thought bubbles if/when characters have internal monologues.

Sammich

These are good too yeah, if you really want to you can do a slight colour outline for characters around their speech bubble too for that person. Thanks again for all the lovely comics

admugo

This is so much better, you could add colors for clarity.

Maxine

I don’t like it

Logan

I think both work, I guess would be more. What are your opinions and goals with it. Was it just to try and see, or were your really feeling this was working better and wanted to see what the fans felt?

PsyberSkald

I think it works either way - whatever makes you the most comfortable.

KebabBob

The bubbles are so much better. Before it wasn't clear who was talking.

Skifan180

I always thought that the bubbles were for spoken words and the boxes were for internal thoughts.

Pojuboi69

Whatever is easier for you.

mrG4bka

Yep, bubbles are better. They allow you to clearly indentify who is saying what. You don't have to guess or assume that a given character said IT.

2026-09-05 19:00 I prefer the style of the boxes, however I think you should add some way of differentiating speakers in the boxes because it's not always clear who's speaking (maybe a light colored border around each box, color-coded for each character?) As an example, on this page I originally thought it was Isla saying "is it sensitive here too?", not the officer lady (blanking on her name lol)

Yeah, I tried colors, but I felt it made it a little cheap or something...

AnyaArt

The original way I was doing it is easier, but sometimes it's hard to know who's speaking...

AnyaArt

I was thinking these speech bubbles would be a lot easier to distinguish who is speaking and wanted to see what everyone though of them.

AnyaArt

An outline is an idea I hadn't thought of. I might try that next. Thanks!

AnyaArt

Aww, thank you! Yeah, I also thought it was easier to know who is speaking.

Urgil Bougie

I second that I thought it was Isla saying that bubble. I had to concentrate on the first reading to piece that officer lady was even in that panel. As for font choice, I like the original. It is easy to read, I never questioned that it was an unusual choice, and it also lends itself to your brand. Perhaps you can add a little speech box tail when who is speaking is possibly ambiguous.

Amalleht

I think this style is better for future projects, but I’d rather have consistency across this comic. 99% of the time, the old style is easy enough to intuit who’s saying what and going back and editing every previous page to match this would be a colossal pain in the ass.

Pojuboi69

The maybe add the little pointed bit like with the bubbles or a line or heck have each line have the first letter or two of thier name preceding the line with a :

Cryptiden

I kind of prefer the old style for now. Great work on the comic😊.

Coffin Nail

bigger fan of the boxes tbh, they look a lot nicer and there's a lot less extra white space. What if you just put a little point out from the boxes towards who was saying them? Like a hybrid approach?

All Az It Should Be

This really helps in clearing up who is talking and would be great moving forward!

Logan

I like it. Sorry, was just trying to support you do what you want, and don’t feel pressured that you have to please the masses.. if that makes sense…?

Kitsunegami

Keep the boxes. It feels more unique to your comic, and most of us are already used to it. Here's an idea you might like. when multiple people are speaking, and it might get hard to tell who is talking. you could maybe just add a little chibi face of the character into the box to make it easier to follow that way in case you decide to change all pages to follow a new standard. you can just make a simple drawing (if you want it to be unique for each box) or Just copy paste from a pre-made set.

AnyaArt

Oohh, that's a cool idea! I'll try this and see how I like it! Thanks!
