Gumroad got hit. Steam got hit. Itch got hit. It's prudent to assume that Patreon is in the firing line, too.Payment processors are going after everyone who dances on what they perceive as the wrong side of their line, and I quite clearly put the wrong shaped lines down on a page.I'll obviously keep drawing 'till the bitter end, because I'm a stubborn, belligerent little sh*t, so for now things will carry on as normal, but the changes over at Itch happened in a snap and with no warning. That might happen here. Be sure to save all the content you've very kindly supported the creation of over the years. The worst might not come to pass, but there's nothing wrong with a little healthy paranoia.Anyway; back to drawing teh boobies.....

Your belligerence is appreciated, keep drawing dem boobies till the bitter end!

Death of Ink

You think it's possible you could still post your work on discord for patreon supporters should the need arise?

Chumlee99

Remember, without naked people, nobody would have bothered to use the internet in the first place, until we meet again.

Blackstone

Patreon is part of the Visa thing and they where the first on the list.

jollyjack

I'm sure I'll come up with something.

heavygusttaf

I think the Patreon executives aren't so stupid as to shoot themselves in the foot, they'll just let everyone make money on Patreon, with huge commissions, because everyone, from artists to terrorists, can publish their work and raise money on Patreon

Shawn K. Younkin

Goddamn, it's the hypocrisy that burns me up the most. You just KNOW some of these prosessors at doing money laundering and shit, but come down on artists to make it look like they are doing "something".

Damo

subscribestar as a backup, yes, but if it's the processors then site-hopping can only do so much. We really needed to do a better job passing on "you have to protect the porn, guys, no, really, it's important" to our youth.

GameGod210

The first and only time I will ever claim to have the same artistic capabilities as JollyJack.

Damo

That's not how it works. Steam, itch, etc didn't want to do this. The Puritans went straight to VISA and Mastercard, and the credit card companies said "take down the nsfw or we freeze your accounts and keep your money. " Shouldn't be legal but here we are.

Damien Jacobs

standing strong in the face of tyranny

Nicolae

Patreon has already crossed the line...

A Patreon of the Ahts

This is one of those things that's going to have to go through the court system. Either the art is illegal or it's not and if it's not, it should just be bought and sold same as anything else. This puritan stuff is nowhere.

ScarySerum

Dang it, I'll pay you directly with gold coins sent in the mail, if that's what it takes!

A Patreon of the Ahts

I also ran the computers for a string of sex shops where you can buy d*****, and such they only ever dealt with their bank as 123456 Inc. etc. They never gave the name of the company because a lot of people won't deal with that which is so weird.

heavygusttaf

Well, great, I'm not going to Visa MasterCard, they're starting to shoot themselves in the foot with a machine gun because it will simply go into the cryptocurrency format and pay with low-value cryptocurrencies. Maybe, I think, I don't know

Aaron Neumann

Crypto is literally monopoly money, I'm afraid. So that isn't the solution.

heavygusttaf

So I would say on the contrary that it is a more free form of money, because standard money such as dollars, pounds sterling or euros, they also depend on the country and trust in that country conditionally. It might be interesting to have a discussion, reflections on the essence of monetary units, in the comments under boobs

Aaron Neumann

People wonder why I'm all for doing things like killing privacy entirely... ... people would like their freedom-maximal mentality but this sort of thing is why it's fail-deadly instead of fail-safe. Or in other words, they value their freedom over everything else, and in many cases living.

The14th

Gotta love corporate censorship, can't challenge it like government censorship in the courts.

eqlipse

Is there a way to, like, mass-download whole archives of media posts? JJ, do you have something like a OneDrive or Mediafire option, where we can save all your stuff like the little squirrel hoarders we are, sensing an oncoming winter?

sharpshooter188

With cartoon tiddies and crush-you-to-death werewolf girls. lol

sharpshooter188

Can you post your stuff as a tier sub on deviantart? It seems like they got pretty lax over time. I know because its way different when I Was there near the beginning. lol

The sniping spy

As far as I know, the only thing itch has done is prevent search listings

jollyjack

They're not nuking everything, yes, but they're still going to go through all flagged content.

jollyjack

I tested DA a while ago. I don't like it as a sales platform..... or a platform in general, since Ecclipse.

Cat of Many Faces

I am so pissed at Itch. I thought they would at least put up the tiniest of fight, but they just rolled over and pissed on themselves. Seriously, this sucks so much...

amandamontagne

It should also be noted that the criteria for getting flagged is utterly asinine. One of the games that's been delisted was an innocuous little adventure game about a young witch looking for her lost cat. Why was it flagged as pornographic? Because the witch as an Ace Pride Flag.

Savage Shark

I really hope Patreon isn't next. It sucks seeing so many sites caving into the anti smut fields. It's not our fault they can't better police their own kids from porn. I'm actually worried it would affect me, as patreon has been a strong on going support for me and I do not want to lose it again. Stay awesome doing what you love drawing JollyJack.

Amethystine

I appreciate you so much, JJ. I'm sorry to see this happening again and again. - I know a solution will either be found or be created, somewhere, somehow, but it's just so frustrating to see our world be so against an aspect of life - passion and reproduction - that is part of creating new life.. the children that ~must be protected from smut~.. while they are simultaneously so gung-ho in support of violence and war. Besides, shoving porn into deeper and darker places isn't going to make people stop making it, it's just going to make it deeper and darker and oops now that sounds hot, maybe I like it. :P

Meskmarker1935

I just saw this on the fucking news. What a terrible fucking world. Fuck those puritanical cxnts.

Wat

Actually, Patreon was hit first in this, they have more weight than itch to throw around so they didn't error so hard as itch is doing in caution. Patreon hit non-con and incest a while back when they were much easier targets for groups looking to petition the payment processors. Definitely worth keeping options open though.

Codswallop

Just wanted to say to anyone reading this: if you're living in the US, call your rep and get them to support the Fair Access to Banking Act. It's a proposed bill that basically prevents credit card companies from refusing service due to "reputational risk".

fallen dragon

Yeah this is bullshit. When did 'if you don't like it, don't look' become 'if you don't like it, ruin it for everyone who does? This is what happens when you put the fucking prudes in charge. They're ruining people's livelihoods because they think they have the moral high ground, and they don't give a shit.

Haworthia

I will do whatever is required to see the wuff ladies!

ElGrumpus

Thank god that we have people like this to be our moral guardians. Without them who knows how many drawings of boobs I might look at? I could get up to anything if I'm left to my own sinful devices.

mike stone

There's a way to fight: Payent processors are bending over for the Puritans because of 'reputational risk', but there's more than one kind of bad reputation.. 'cabal of point-one-percenters setting themselves up as censors with more power than first world governments' is also a bad look. Annoying a population of artists capable of generating viral memes about 'cabal of point-one-percenters ...' is another risk. Given the choice between angry Karens and regulators saying, "apparently we can't trust you to make that kind of decision," I'm pretty sure the payment processors fear the second one more. Don't frame it as what they might do. Frame it as what they've already done.

bikdingle

It always surprises me that no one has thought to capitalize on this by creating a paypal clone....call it 'Pornpay' or something and cater to that huge portion of the internet concerned with porn. Base it out of some country that is beyond the reach of these people and rake in the money a few pennies at a time. It would have to be something done without shareholders and in the hands of a few who could not be influenced or bought out.
