Which texture do you prefer? (Patreon)

I tried to set this up as a poll, but adding images to a poll post doesn't work right, so I'll just read the comments to gauge opinion.Side by side comparison of paper texture: 100%, 60% and no texture at all. Which do you like more?

Gonna be boring and say the no texture works better. Makes your work look more crisp.

100% for nature, 60% for modern society, and 0% for sci-fi. it really gives a little something extra to the setting

60 adds character, but the crispness of your lineart can stand on it's own. Maybe a 40%

The paper texture makes the image darker and duller. Could you try brightening the textured images a bit to compensate? I think I'm probably going to prefer the textureless version anyway, but we might as well give the textured look its best chance.

I like the 60 aesthetically has a hint that comic book feel without being too overwhelming, but I wouldn't hang the 100 percent paper up forever either it would probably be more effective in medieval fantasy or for the more elderich comics

60% Never really had an issue with no texture, but seeing texture, now, it adds a little... depth? Not sure how else to explain it. 100% is too much "depth" though. I'd definitely choose 60%

I still prefer no texture, but maybe that's just what I'm used to. If it's not too much extra work, maybe you could simply give people two versions? One PDF with the texture and one without?

I think it depends on how "pulpy" the story is. For something like this comic, no texture seems to work best. For Titan Tuesday, I like the 60% texture.

I prefer the clean look, but I'd also check to see how much larger the file size gets from adding the texture. I heard adding film grain to an image can balloon file sizes, not sure if the same principle applies here.

hmm, i think either the 60% or none works well, perhaps useing it for certain things might make it more interesting comic wise? like for the background and whatnot.

I also like the look of 60%. It gives a little more visual interest compared to no texture, but only subtly, as compared to 100%.

20-30% may be interesting to try, elsewise the 60%. The 100% feels a little distracting.

60%, but no texture is also good. I think what's being depicted playing a role, something sleek and modern (and eventually scaly) will probably benefit from 0 just a hair, while fuzzy werewhatevers in a swords-and-sorcery setting where every surface is probably a little gritty would definitely prefer 60. By just a bit.

Hmm, I think if it had been a daytime scene probably the 60% one. But the nighttime vibe really gels with the 100%

It's really depend on the action of the pic, the moon can be 60, the person, No texture, window texture, etc. It were you want the eye's to see 1st. ^_^

100% is too much, looks grainy. 60% sets off the shapes nicely, but none also looks good.

The first one seems to work best for a night time setting. The 2nd one has a softer feel, which could work better depending on how 'dark' you go with a plot or character. The 3rd seems to much, it almost drowns out the image itself.

60% is my preference out of these options - a subtle texture that doesn't draw the eye away from the comic page itself.

If the texture is intended to convey a darkened room then 100% Overall I like the texture on the fabric but prefer little or no texture on the skin.

I lean towards no texture, myself - lends a cleanliness to the image. The 60% could work if you want to convey a sort of hazy shadow to the entire scene, though.
