Are there people who are not stressed in 2026?? I just assume everyone's feelin' it these days.Anyway, I tried making some goofy poses in the mirror and then challenged myself to draw them, because I find sometimes models/art refs so often have exaggerated proportions and I'm trying to get better at anatomy. It was actually a pretty good exercise! I was able to keep moving the photo image overtop my sketch to see where it wasn't really lining up, turns out I was making forearms and shins waaaay too long lol.

Love all of this! The pose practices are really cool!

Those model drawings are awesome! Thanx for sharing. And to answer your other question about stress...also yes

Joey Kirby

First off, big mood on the stress of just existing anymore. Second, looking great on the pose drawings, looking great really

I am always wowed at how your art style has progressed. So amazing! And to think I was initially against the tablet transition... How wrong I was 😞

StSquiggy

Those turned out really good! I know I would fuck that up 🤣

Thank you! I wish I hadn't been resistant to the tablet for so many years lol now I'm making up for lost time!

I like that last panel, you look like ready to punch the patriarchy in the taint

Will

That first pose drawing is really interesting, you reckon your art style is shifting/evolving any?

Teaching middle school in 2026 is why my hair and beard are turning grey at 39.

I think so, I was looking back on some of my comics from lst year and cringing so hopefully hahaa

Will

Oh you've definitely shifted from those days. Still, it'd be interesting to see what it all looks like in a few years.

CanDude

Can you post them so we can see how far you've progressed?

Randall Sarvey

Which is you IRL, on the left or on the right? Or, to put it another way, you did a damn good job!

Rob van Overmeeren

What program do you use on your tablet? Procreate? Clip Studio? Something else?

I don’t watch news. I think of it as self care. Because when I paid attention to the news back in uni I wanted to commit. If news are important enough, people will let me know.

Stress, stress everywhere! Currently using my phone’s internet connection because my main one is out, right at the beginning of a very busy time at my work. Ugh! . Great reference photos! There’s a “Calvin&Hobbes” Sunday comic that has Calvin making a series of goofy faces. The punchline is in the last panel with his parents looking at the photos from Picture Day. Watterson - in the 10th Anniversary book - said he stood in front of a mirror, made those faces and drew them. Quipped how that’s one of the benefits of working from the privacy of his house.

You do know you're going to have to do a nude pose and drawing of that too.

Well there's the baseline stress we're all functioning at, then we get those little magical bursts of extra stress that makes you question how you're holding it together. Keep on keeping on folks ♥️

I mean, do what you want with proportions and I absolutely respect the drive for continuous improvement. But I don't think a cartoon needs to perfectly reflect reality and I think your long-forearm-and-shinned cartoon Ellen looks *completely* fine
