This is my first attempt at this so I hope it's okay lol I only spoke for the first 5 minutes or so, the rest is silent. I wanted to speed up the silent portion a bit but I wasn't sure how with quicktime, so maybe I need to get a seperate video editor (if anyone has any suggestions...hint hint)

2026-09-09 05:00 Kind of comes down to how you are recording the videos. If you are drawing and recording on an iPad you might want to look at Lumafusion or iMovie. On a Windows platform your simplest option would be something like ClipChamp.

cool insight into your process Ellen! you rock.

Davinci Resolve has a free version that can speed up time. Maybe iMovie has that functionality. It's interesting seeing your workflow.

Mr S

I enjoy getting to see the process!

Camtasia is an easy to learn and use video software. U can record and edit with it. There are options to speed up or slow down the video in the editing controls. I've used it for years professionally and personally my recommendation

SAB

What are you using for drawing? Wacom/digital pen and pad?

Zanarkand Behemoth

Honestly love this since I was curious about how you do all the art. This was super informative ❤️❤️❤️

Man, I really underestimated the time it takes to draft a comic. Very informative.

iMovie is stupid easy to learn and has the functionality you need. I get a kick out of using iMovie's corny wipes and effects for personal projects.

DrHorrible

Super cool to see and love the stream idea

Mystery

This was so cool!!!

This was great! I know it would take a lot of editing work, or hiring an editor, but I feel like you could do 15-20 minute videos with commentary on your creative process. Like, take a 3, 6, 9, 12 hour comic illustration recording and then truncate it down to the highlights of your choice, with commentary on how you did it, how you arrived at that decision, how you choose ideas, etc. I'm not sure of how profitable that would be, but it would be cool to see! Keep it up! Edit: I don't know the exact terminology, but I'm referring to those videos where it's like, a guy or gal restoring something, or like cleaning something that was really dirty, where they take 2 hours of footage and speed it up in between the important moments and have non-DMCA music in between, if that makes sense. Aspiring comic artists, fans, and newcomers could all really enjoy that, I think!

This is something I love to see, the way you work on creation process. That’s something that dazzles me.

I was just reading comics on r/Comics on reddit (which I go to only for comics because some of the other stuff there is weird ass shit!) and they posted (days ago only just saw it) your intense one about your feeling and the follow-up from other comics and they listed it ALL! Wow, so many artists joined the 'party', you have a lot of power!! Proud of you (who cares, right? You don't know me. lol)

Mystery

Will you be making another one of these step by step? I loved this one!

Have you ever used an iPad for sketching? I’ve tried to use a mouse for vector graphics, and it feels so unnatural but I wasn’t sure if other people feel that way too.
