i craved this.

Ruby May.

what you said about twigs and björk singing about the same shit for years is also something that i see in gaga a little bit, 2 this day she has a weird passion/obsession for "darkness🙀" (ooo spooki) that i find a bit childish at this point, like can you come up with something else

I’m ready to watch, but I’m already a little apprehensive about the idea that you believe the album is only about sex lyrically. Contextually, Twigs dedicated this album to survivors of domestic abuse after her own experience with Shia Lebeouf (idk how to spell that devil’s last name). Same with Magdalene, it was about her mistreatment by Robert Pattinson. Both of those situations lead to a stripping of one’s self-esteem and skew how you view relations w sex too. I agree that there’s a strangeness about the way she processes that into lyrics, but I think there’s also a lot she’s learnt and is still learning. She’s not a perfect person, but this is the expression of her unique experience….

I also feel like there’s no such thing as being too old to not be over something. Like she went through an entire lawsuit and I can’t imagine the effects that has on your personal life. If that’s what she’s going through, she has the artistic right to express that for however long she’s dealing with that. Apparently she’s been working on this album for 3 years so even if she’s a different person now, what’s written has been published. It’s not a crime to go through all this shit and still love sensuality and sex. That’s allowing yourself semblance of human experience.

yeah I think it's honestly more about her relationship to men, and she tends to explore it lyrically through sex. However, I find it troubling that she seems to keep telling men to find healing in women, especially bc there is an issue of men constantly "subduing" their "demons" through violence to the women in their lives. Do I think it's valid that she's still struggling with it? yeah, it's her prerogative, and also she doesn't really need anyones validation to experience this. But after magdalene and then caprisongs I'm honestly just sad to see how she's taking on this burden of someone else's unlearning, if that makes sense

i'm so late to this omg didn't know you guys did a eusexua review!! i'm not yet done watching this first part but I wanted to give my two cents before I lose my train of thought; I understand your frustrations with twigs regarding her lyricism and her "obession" or rather fixation on healing the man through her "divine femininity" or whatever into becoming a better person but I disagree that she isn't displaying any growth. I think it's unfair to point to her music to make judgments on her personal life, I know you don't mean it that way but it feels dismissive, I always appreciated her courage to lay it all out she's very self aware of her flaws, her people pleasing tendencies, having too much faith in the men she finds herself entangled with, she was obv very traumatized by all of them and is still healing and coming back to herself after years of abuse, if i remember correctly she mentioned how eusexua as a project was her way of letting go all of her past selfs, returning to a state of childlike wonder and embracing being messy/imperfect, having listened to magdalene, caprisongs and eusexua I see her evolution both as an artist and person. I think no matter how old someone is you're always learning and gaining new wisdom from your experiences, also think her fixation on healing men might actually be more so about wanting men in general to embrace true love like genuine real love for nature, animals, women, children etc. instead of rejecting all that is deemed feminine and weak, a sort of plea to become gentler and embrace ones own nurturing qualities, which men and women have been told for generations is something the woman is better at anyways so it's been neglected entirely....hope this made sense hehe i'll continue watching

yeah I agree with you, and honestly if she still wants to make pleas to men to actually be good to nature or women/children, she can. I don't think this is immaturity as much as it's a different stance to mine. I just don't get why she's still doing it, but it's not a thing that she HAS to agree with me on or follow; however, I will not be able to connect to it or understand it(not in terms of comprehension, but in terms of feeling it, if that makes sense)
