Ruby May.

she explained the eusexua vocabulary in some interviews and it's just words that she came up with 2 describe those things, instead of a "philosophy" that she follows. like "chroning" isn't a good thing, she's actually trying 2 avoid it

Lisa Fevral

that's what I though at first too, but I dont get why it's in eleven as one of the ways of opening up to eusexua

I’m worried that she’ll go down the path of grimes because grimes has been kinda of the fascist pipeline with the kinda stuff she’s been saying. But what fka is saying now about tech is what grimes was like 5 years ago plus the whole parallel with Kanye and Elon. And new age spirituality is also connected to the fascist pipeline

“Stop lighting incense hoping they will change” Ateeeee LOL. Thank you guys for going through song to song. Y’all went through it 😭. I loved the album sm musically. Everything about the production and performances, but feel like the only one who can connect lyrically is herself - Ig that’s the point of making something yourself. Hearing them read out still makes me shiver. *more sad noises*

I also don’t rely on any celebrity to care about real world, real people issues. Annoyingly, the only thing she’s able to trivialize is herself and create some spiritual mumbo jumbo to market alongside how she relies so much on. This is the stuff she does to make her feel like she can bear doing everything else and heal from the effects of that too. Typical and disappointing but done artistically 🤔 I hope my comments don’t come off super Twigs stan defending her every move. I found a lot of inspiration about creation/expression and friendship building through the lead up and release of this album; I care so little for sex in my life so I can only look to understand the figure she creates as herself. Excellent critiques all around! If you guys care to watch her live performances at the Valentino L’Ecole show and Body is Art. It’s good. Thank uuuu 🫶🏿🫶🏿🫶🏿

honestly I'm such a sucker for her music and voice that I simply accepted that the lyrics are not for me and roll with it haha I still analyze them every time the new album is out though, just to see if she's moved on, and if so, where

Lisa Fevral

omg yesss I love those performances, I feel like seeing them live would be life changing. Also don't worry about having different takes to us, I really love hearing your thoughts! sometimes it shifts something for me in art and life

Lisa Fevral

I'm worried about it too, it reminds me of Grimes as well. especially the cyborg-but-not exploration. I can never quite get why the hell new age spirituality is such a greased shoot for the fascists

aargh I'm kinda disappointed to hear your guys' take on eusexua I think a lot of stuff was misunderstood maybe out of not knowing better and not having heard what twigs herself has said about the album writing process and concept behind it all. I watched most of the interviews she gave and particularly about the eleven, the term "croning" is correctly explained but she's not saying it's something to aspire to quite the opposite actually in the interview with imogen heap she said whenver she started feeling the urge to check her instagram she started doing this meditative practice with her arms I believe where she rubs them on her thighs it's basically to get her mind off of checking her phone she straight up said she had a technology addiction that she's actively working against it, I know it all might seem like some woo woo new age spiritual bs if you don't look into it any further but somatic healing works wonders for dropping back into your body and that is all she is offerinng it's not a way to make herself seem self important she said herself that she's been on a healing journey writing eusexua and using her body in this way has helped her a ton so it's just somatic healing exercises she came up with and is offering people to try out for themselves!! I truly love your opiniated self that's what makes you a unique voice on the internet so don't take this as an attack but I wish you would have had a more open mind to this album, many times it felt like you were being very dismissive towards her experiences

especially regarding sex and her relationship to sex being everpresent in most of her lyrical content, if you take 24hr dog literally of course it sounds offputting but if you dive deeper into kink it's just a sexual fantasy and nothing that is taken into real life, it's her way of letting go of her power, this need to be strong and in control at all times is something that doesn't come naturally to everyone and judging from her music from even early on and the way she speaks about herself she strikes me as having a very delicate personality that struggles to keep this facade of strong, always in control woman in the public eye up, also think psychologically sex for many women especially is freeing and for an artist like fka twigs it doesn't seem like a concept that can be talked about a couple times and moved on from that's like saying an artist like taylor swift should move on from writing about love I mean some people just have a fixation on things that follow them throughout their entire lives, maybe that's where trauma is stuck and unhealed, or it's simply an area of their lives they gain the most inspiration wisdom and energy from, sex among other things are one of the most human things I can think of of course you might not connect to it personally but generally it's I think unfair to say she's stuck in that and overly obsessed with sex, I hope my ramblings were coherent enough sorry but needed to share my thoughts, as always love the pod love the videos I hope my words didn't come off in a super negative way, we all have different opinions and diversity of thought is cool especially relating to art which is why listening to you and bissistant talk is so fun !

Lisa Fevral

yeah it probably came off as dismissive, when it's just something I don't connect with. It's kind of a thing for me with Twigs tho, I connect to her voice and also (especially) her performances. Her lyrics and concepts are oftentimes coddling of negative patterns, and that is not a new or "wrong" thing, it's just a thing that I don't get in art or irl. If a problem can be solved, why not solve it? If the pattern has been identified, why not end it? It's obviously not that simple for anyone, but that's just a difference of our personalities. She's more connected to her body, I'm more connected to my mind, and we will oftentimes not get each other(if she knew me that is ahahah).

Lisa Fevral

oh yeah when it comes to sex in her music, the theme itself is not a problem, it's sex in combination with healing, specifically healing of the men. And I get that it's just her view on life, she doesn't have to subscribe to my views. I will however always find it exasperating to see women do this, bc it's doing nothing but hurt us, and not only on a personal level, but as a collective. Like her approach to sex in drums of death where she's talking about doing what you want for fun - I get it and can get behind it. But ultimately I don't think the point of an album is to get behind everything in it, and it's not her job to be "perfect" haha

nctiddy

hm interesting, I see what you mean but as a musical artist i would assume you would want to revisit topics even if you’re in the process of moving on from them for the sake of creating something that is unique to you and is telling your own story other people can potentially connect to, I guess in my mind I generally try to not analyze lyrics too deeply so they don’t bother me as much for example I absolutely do not relate to Beyoncé in the slightest she says many things about her man I find ridiculous but it’s her own unique experience and it doesn’t entirely ruin the music for me, so yeah it might actually just be a difference in personality

nctiddy

Also think what you’re recognizing as coddling negative patterns I personally recognize as her making sense of them it’s not a good thing to do in practice but that’s what trauma does to you you keep replaying it in your head until you find a way out, it doesn’t always make much sense to outsiders, but yeah maybe my stubborn optimism is clouding my judgments while you can’t help but sprinkle a little pessimism into everything 🥲

Lisa Fevral

yeah we all got that bias in us, or a tendency
