First the masses' darling, now after an Oscar win - a punching bag. Is this Sean Baker movie worth all this conversation?

Since my comments under the YouTube video are immediately removed, I'll try here. - I recently saw the film and agree with the assessment: it is very well made, but lacks depth. In the tradition of exploitation films, it attempts to give the viewer a voyeuristic glimpse into a strange, exotic world – hence the focus on cool, good-looking party, sex and action scenes. I find it implausible how quickly and easily the main character falls for a client. It makes her look very naive and inexperienced. In real life, such behaviour is sanctioned and prevented by pimps as damaging to business. Another question: you're probably familiar with the videos by YTer / Content Creator revolutionaryth0t? If not, be sure to check her out. She deals a lot with the history of the Soviet Union and current left-wing issues.
