the more I think about this movie, the more disturbing the plot becomes. However, the production and looks of the movie makes worth dealing the the "father-king"

truly, but also so strange that this is such a common trope in old fairytales

Hello I come again with fun facts about the movie : -I'm ngl sad the subtitles lose the rhymes and musicality of the dialogue, it's really written like a poem in some portions (and I suspect those to be the original fairytale) -At the time of filming, Jean Marais (the King) was 57 and Catherine Deneuve (the pwincess) was 27. -Jean Marais was often the old-fashioned male /hero lead in his movies and he also often played "young" roles with younger women as partners. One example that comes to mind is Fantomas, where he was 51, while his girlfriend in the movie (Mylène Demongeot) was 29 and they were portraying a 30yo young couple that wasn't even married yet. -the Sun Dress was so heavy they installed a stall inside so Catherine could rest in-between takes -it's a real donkey skin that came from a slaughter house and that had to be heavily fixed and cleaned so it didn't rot on set (the inside is painted nylon)

thats so crazy omfg I hate when they have 50yo men "dating" 30yo women
