Have you seen Elem Klimov’s "Come and See"? The film is set in Belarus during the German occupation in the Second World War and explores the impact of that occupation on the civilian population, as well as the resistance of the partisan movements. In my opinion, it is one of the most powerful anti-war films of all time. As unsettling as a horror film, it is the Soviet answer to "Apocalypse Now". So, unfortunately, very timely and possibly a bit too bleak...

On this subject, I recommend the French historian and specialist in Greek studies, Nicole Loraux: https://literaturkritik.de/id/5979 (Link in German; use your browser’s translation feature)

I recommend Burned (2026); [my short lol]

yeah I've seen it, and even though it's the best anti-war movie out there, it's really dark and I think we should watch something less sad!

I understand your point of view. However, if you have the opportunity or are interested, I’d like to hear your more detailed thoughts as a visual artist on the film, its aesthetics, narrative style, its reception and place in Soviet cinema – perhaps as part of a podcast episode.

Suggesting A Woman Walks Home Alone at Night (2014)

I would also suggest Paris is on Fire (1990) (I can provide "link")
