i've been having similar thoughts regarding a certain "taintedness" to romantic love due to its attachment to physical attraction. platonic love seems more pure in that sense because you can be sure the love is not attached to your physical body. but could it be argued that platonic love can be similarly tainted, just by other factors not related to physicality. im thinking about what if someone's status, beliefs, actions, or w/e is contingent to the existence of a platonic relationship. is that a bad thing, are contingencies necessarily aspects that taint relationships? now i don't know what to think

I wouldn’t say that they necessarily taint it, but I guess the purpose of a platonic relationship is not challenged by physicality as a dominant force. It feels like the issue of physicality is less about its presence and more about its involvement in every other aspect as a “secret” driving force or motive
