[Important] Tier Changes & harmful Scene Data actions (Patreon)
Content
Hello bunnies,
TLDR version here:1. 'Annual' memberships will be turned off starting next month. Only monthly will remain.2. Membership fee increase starting next month.3. Existing members before the change will NOT be affected, you will continue to receive all the benefits at the same price (old price) you've always had. This will only affect new members after the change.4. Due to harmful actions toward our page, starting next month Scene Data will only be released at the same time its video counterpart get its public release on my X (formerly Twitter).
Explained
1. Annual Subscriptions
The Annual subscription method will be disabled starting next month, 1st of December. This should hopefully protect some of our members in the event that something happens to my page or myself. This part sounds awful like something might happen.
2. Tier Price Changes
This is a change that had to happen one day. We've made many new changes to our work and workflow, learned new Studio tech and tricks, introduced more hours, software (both for Studio and video editing), and tech, to Sugardust that we believe it is now worthy enough for the change.
This change will start on the 1st of December 2024.
If you have any questions about this, please hop on over to our Discord and ask in our member's chat.
3. Tier Price will not affect existing members (cont'd)
Existing members will not be affected by the price change above.
As long as you are a member before the change, you will continue to support us at the same membership price you've always supported us with. This will only affect new members after the change starting next month.
4 Scene Data Release Changes due to harmful actions toward our page 'Sugardust'
There had been negative effects (one major one detailed below) as a result of releasing the scene data alongside the video. We've been going back and forth on the idea if we should just stop releasing new scene data but instead we came to this compromise of releasing it only when its video counterpart get its public release on our X (formerly Twitter).
There is one major consequence of releasing Scene Data. We can do all the motion work, and the postproduction work of video and audio editing. Unfortunately, bad actors can come by with the intent of claiming all the work as their own.
These bad actors would rip off the animation's motion data and use their own character models, and then rip off our audio to use in their own video release, before claiming they did all the work to unsuspecting paying people.
Screenshot above is taken from someone's 'Update post' claiming they did all the work in their video releases, but clearly our video's audio is being used in their project timeline. Our video's name is in the screenshot.
Unfortunately, these people are supported by people who also won't care because it benefits them.
"Why support the one doing all the animation/motion and audio work, when you can support someone else that can exploit it."There are people out there who won't care that it is stolen labour and it really does make us question if continued release of Scene Data would have severe consequence to our page in the future.
As for now, we will compromise and starting next month we will only release a video's Scene Data the same time as when we release its public video counterpart on our X (formerly Twitter). This means that if we release video #90, it may take until maybe video #93 or video #94 before video #90's scene data gets released. This can help mitigate some of the negativity even if it's just a little bit and everyone can still get access to it eventually.
We will still release our coming #87 Interlude scene data on time, this should only affect releases starting next month.
We will continue to watch over this and if it gets too much we might have to stop releasing scene data.
