So glad you guys picked this one, I had just caught up on this and Delicious in Dungeon. Heather and Matt are cool. Edge! Also, Luffy is absolutely as stretchy as Mr fantastic, dude does shit reed Richards hasn't even thought of yet.

Question for heather-- in your tenure as an anime fan, has there been a live action adaptation that is as decent as the anime it is based on? What would make a live action actually good and what anime would you even wanna see live action'd adapted. Question for Nick, Matt and Richelle-- sup?

Buddy Jones

Rest in Power to the Kami-sama of Shonen Akira Toriyama. I’m sure Dragonball Z was a lot of anime fans first introduction to the medium.

Fun to see you covering Solo Leveling. The manhwa has very nice art and is also completed, so if you want to skip ahead and read to the end you aren't limited to the webnovel.

I watched the first two yesterday morning in anticipation of today’s podcast ep… i figured I’d watch two a week to watch along. By the end of the day I’d finished ep7 and will catch up today…. I am SO in. The show is incredibly watchable and paced just right to keep you interested. Loving it so far. And always love a Sawano Hiroyuki soundtrack (AOT, Gundam Unicorn, Aldnoah Zero, etc). His stuff sometimes a bit same-y but it has a distinct quality that I enjoy.

David Mucci

Yay, Nick! I think the best thing is to just take One Piece at whatever pace works for you, and not make it the only thing you watch, otherwise you might feel crazy/burnt out. For me, it’s my weekend morning anime — watch probably 3ish episodes Saturday and Sunday morning if I can with my coffee/breakfast. And I’ll generally watch other stuff during the week so I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything else I want to watch. So glad you’re starting on this journey!

Hell yeah! We're in it now. Prepare yourselves because where this series gets to, compared to it's beginning, is next level crazy. Additionally, I'm gonna keep banging the drum for Tower of God. It's another Korean property and it's so good. Season 2 is coming out this summer. So get caught up and get into it!

this episode featured 3 of my favorite things: burgers, burritos, and One Piece 40/10 🙂👍

Notrock

The most unrealistic part of this show is that some loser in his early 20's who's barely holding down a job is the smartest guy in the room.

I love this damn show and I love that the damn podcast is covering this damn show. Especially after the Pluto slog. Let’s fuckin gooooooo

J0hn

Mr Fantastic is bush league compared to Luffy.

Andre V

Halfway through March and this mf just learned Luffy is stretchy

okamiki

Let’s goooooo!!! I’m so excited to hear your thoughts! One Piece stays in my top 3. The characters and story telling still give me chills to this day - and solo leveling is sneaking into my top 10 I can’t wait to hear you guys break this show down.

Michael Pemulis

I know almost nothing about the show, so I have no opinion on it, but I'm a little disappointed that Nick started watching One Piece. After making it his resolution to watch the entire series, and then never watching a single second of it, I think, would've been the third most notable thing about him, right after The Monster Fuck and knowing more about the Minions than anyone at Illumination.

I’m a fur trapper so I’m listening to this podcast while I catch squirrels, skunks, raccoons and the occassional miscellaneous varmint

I was watching this show on my own when it started airing, but ended up dropping it; it wasn't that I didn't like it, just got busy with other things that held my interest a bit more, was thinking to maybe return to it when the season was over. However, I watch everything you guys cover in this feed, and I'm so excited you picked this series because it has given me a reason to return to it! Your excitement about the show reignited my own excitement, and I can't wait to watch this series with you guys. Thank you, my parasocial podcast pals!

eat the electric rat ash you can do it

i already love this show so much, but it fills me with so much dread to watch- and not because of the aggregious violence of schmimy used-car salesman smirking collosi smushing these humans with families, but because of how MANY FUCKING MENUS THERE ARE. I'd be so pissed if I was brought to near-death and was granted one superpower and it was the power of having menus. elden ring is scary enough - unnavigable nested menus make it SO MUCH scarier. I beat my one lifetime fromsoft game (elden ring) - please don't make me relive it

Where are we on “Where in the World is Wiger Weebin One Piece? Just spitballing here while doing the dishes. It’s likely too try-hard and long but just popped into my head. Also just love you guys and This Show (Solo Leveling and Get Anime’d)

Re: Space and Old: I think my sweet spot might be Space + Swords. Inspired by Heather & Nick I recently started my Gundam journey with the OG mobile Suit Gundam, and I had no idea there would be so many Giant Space Robots running each other through with Space Broadswords, like medieval sword and shield combat, and I’m so here for it

On the topic of Space vs. Old, I'm with Heather in that I like the combo. My favorite version of this would be Gene Wolfe's Book of the New Sun (though a lot of Wolfe's work applies here) where the genre changes from sci-fi, to fantasy, to sci-fi, and back to fantasy again depending on what information the reader currently has available to them.

The incredible intro is by one of my fav Kpop groups TOMMOROW X TOGETHER (aka T.X.T.). They even star in an anime-style webtoon called “The Star Seekers” that takes place in a universe where Kpop idols have magical abilities. As an asian american who grew up without any representation in media and basically made Kpop and Anime my personality at a young age, it’s so friggin cool to see the two mashed together like this. TXT’s music videos and songs are really great too and if this show turns Heather into a Kpop stan i’m gonna lose my shit 🤩❤️

Hey guys where's episode 3+4 discussion? Did it get removed?

Jake Sellman

Hey, what happened to episode 3+4?
