My parents are visiting from Perth and last night I took them to see Wim Wender’s Perfect Days on Nick’s recommendation - it was an absolute home run, everybody loved it 🥰 thanks Nick!!

Re: Wiger’s Piece (not a phrase I ever envisioned myself saying, but here we are) I think by the next episode or so of the podcast, he’ll be in the middle of an arc that has the potential to make him a One Piece fan for life.

I gotta fess up, it was me! Much like Nick I couldn't resist the allure of new episodes, so I'm all caught up. I'll just say it's made me super stoked for the next couple of weeks on the pod, we got some real heaters coming up.

Mob psycho is a 10/10 on animation, characters, story, I love it! Super wholesome and funny, but also pulls on the heartstrings. The whole show is only about 35 episodes and doesn’t overstay its welcome, so I’d always recommend it

Every single decision in the Cerberus episode had me yelling at my tv. Not sure about the storytelling.

Every time I watch one of these episodes, I have an urge to play a game of the type, and I’ve settled on Diablo IV, which dropped on Game Pass. What game do you think would fit this show more closely?

corndog

there is an anime version of Cheers and it's called Polar Bear Cafe

I wonder if anyone here has checked out Shangri-la Frontier. It's a very interesting show because it's basically just about a Heather-coded gamer playing and sequence breaking a VR video game with almost zero stakes beyond the in-universe video game. And despite there being no stakes, I find it very entertaining, you can tell that the creators really like video games by basically creating a video game in universe that they obviously wish was real.

I’m back with another 4kidz localization, as I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole again. In the original yugioh series, there’s a villain whose backstory involves a shipwreck that kills his parents. 4kidz decided death was too dark a topic for children, so instead, they made the character’s parents survive, but just forget about him, which is much more brutal.

After all the One-Punch Man talk, I decided to check it out. I watched both seasons in one short work week. I loved it. My boss was upset with my productivity though.

I want to second Matt's recommendation of X-Men '97, which has annihilated my expectations. It's also vaguely weeb-adjacent, since there exist both X-Men and Wolverine anime. Furthermore, the creator of Rurouni Kenshin modeled a number of characters after X-Men designs, including Gambit. (I don't know about the cum gutters, though.)

Spare-Time Tuxedo Patrick Goes Looking for Love

I'm getting a little worried that this anime isn't going to dole out many answers about the secrets behind the gates, dungeons, or Jin-woo's new abilities by the end of the first season. I am still enjoying the show though. And I like that Yoo Jin-ho appears to be locked in as a character. He is my favorite anime nepo-baby since Shinji Ikari.

Modest Ghost

I'm a janitor at a school for 10 years and I listen to you guys when I'm cleaning the mess kids make every day. Sometimes it's a good day, sometimes a bad day. Oh well. Nice show and take care!

Watching Solo Leveling makes me feel more badass. Not like I could *do* badass fighting or anything even remotely close, but just watching it makes me *feel* like a total badass. Any anime give you the same feeling? Love the pod! Ranch is cool... Cool Ranch...

Who would win: three decades of being mostly sedentary or Nick Wiger asking "where would you even find the time to do 100 push-ups a day?" exactly once? This show is just big dumb fun. It's the closest I've felt to watching DragonBall Z as a kid - I don't know if there's any underlying substance and I don't really even care. The fights look sick as hell and that's plenty.

XRedGambit

I think you should try to find dragon ball: path to power as an in between movie episode. It's basically the first little bit of dragon ball as a movie. I'm with nick on watching ahead. I couldn't help myself on this show. It is very good at ending on a cliffhanger. Sorry I'm a bad little boy. I'm at no pieces and can't remember where I stopped reading the manga, I just need to start over again.

Since Nick brought it up, I think every member of the show would LOVE Mob Psycho 100. It's fairly short, like 36 total episode. I think it would be a fantastic show for the podcast to cover even if you only start with the first 12 episodes (season 1). Mob is a great protagonist, the story is compelling, the animation is unique and beautiful, and the humor is truly on-point. Highly recommended. I was also thinking about this the other day, but Deathnote would be SUCH a fun watch; very different vibe from a lot of other stuff that has been watched, is a classic anime, and the discussions surrounding it would be super compelling.

I am so glad you guys chose to watch Solo Leveling; I had fallen off it pretty hard on the first couple episodes when I watched on my own (unsure why really, they are good episodes...), but when the podcast picked it up I was excited to jump back in with another try. It has not disappointed; this show goes hard, and I'm excited to see where it goes. I also want to reiterate my praise of the song that plays during episode 6 when Jinwoo kills the hunters who betrayed him. What a banger, and set a perfect tone for the scene.

ask4seconds

Hey there H.N.M, What an extremely volatile battle between Sung Jin-woo and Cerberus, eh! I give that fight scene: 9 thick, bread sodas out of 10.... and double the calories.

J0hn

207 pieces. Nothing but clear sky's ahead!

Now I’m mad about Endless Eight all over again.

POTENTIAL MINOR SPOILER: To Nick's question regarding the S-Rank who gets approached for recruitment, she does later reveal to her boss it was the Construction Firm who made the approach. Nick who has like myself watched ahead should know this so as Matt suggested, I will say: PAY ATTENTION IDIOTS! Love from Australia
