I'd watch this over the first 3 anime of this month

David Mucci

I’m going to listen in full tomorrow, but I skipped to see what anime was announced, heard it was Fruits Basket, skipped to the chain reactions and was surprised to hear you all saying it was a piece of shit! I realized my blunder a bit later but I was cracking up thinking some episode of Fruits Basket offended y’all so horribly 😂

MosDeef

I'm not gonna watch Cosplay Complex, but there was a great Leo-pointing-at-the-screen moment when Heather said "there's a character called Ikebukuro?!" as I listened from my apartment *in* Ikebukuro.

Adam Curtis

Every week Matt gets closer to one of THE episodes of Demon Slayer, arguably one of THE episodes in all of anime.

AniMAYhem stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little, and it will fail, to the ruin of all. Yet hope remains while the RNG is true.

ChasingKillersMusic

Animayhem is the highlight of the week. I love this show!

BensDecoy

I just realized that an anime about cosplay has a fundamental issue because IRL cosplay is transformative from animation to real life fabrics and textures and it takes human effort to make. In anime you’re just drawing the same designs. No wonder they have a magic faerie for magical girl transformations, the actual costume creation in a show like this is meaningless, though I allow for My Dress Up Darling to pull that off because the creators were likely competent.

Michael Pemulis

Leno and Star Wars talk, I can't wait to read the comments of listeners threatening to cancel their subscriptions.

Zeon Liberation

Dungeon Meshi is doing their job of driving the fan service train further with all the Senshi panty shots. Also Ranch gave a real Flintstones dinosaur whose job it is to be a can opener turning to the camera and saying “it’s a living” with her “it’s ok”.

Clitrocket

Yoooo a Downey shout out let’s goooooo

XRedGambit

AniMAYhem has been fantastic. My only gripe is that I listen to podcasts while doing things (walk drive cook), so I do miss out on the watch part of these episodes. If anything, the next time you do this, next may I hope, you select the show and episode the week before and it's a normal format. Maybe even 2 sequential episodes of the same series to watch that week or 2 random episodes of the same series, or just 2 different shows. There is a lot of anime out there and only 1 month called may.

Zack Tennenhouse

Even in the most boring anime of all time, Apodaca loves a beam.

clearplastichuman

leaning into heather's comment that k-on influenced the art style of the anime landscape for a period thereafter, what are some anime that were similarly influential for its time? "cosplay complex" reminded me very much of Pokémon (and anime in the general) in the 2000s, so im glad you mentioned the art style. also, have a nice day :)

eat the electric rat ash you can do it

this was a bad episode to choose to watch along with at work. glad I switched to 5G instead of my office wifi 10/10 ranch keep em coming

Firstly, I loved Tar for being an incredible film but also hated Tar for making videogame music look lame as hell. Secondly, I'm not sure why I'm bringing this up but I think the gang would get a kick out of R100. Not an anime but Japanese film about guys who hire a secret society of dominatrixs to attack them randomly throughout the day to get off. It's a hoot!

David Mucci

This show was rough, particularly for being 6-7 minutes longer than a typical anime episode but having less substance than 5 minutes of any other anime. After this, I put on my new bedtime anime, Laid-Back Camp, and its endearing wholesomeness cured me of the sickness induced by Cosplay Complex.

Lark

That show fucking sucked.

SchniedelWutz

That show reminded me of watching all of my dress up darling and then realising, I basically watched hours of porn prelude. I didn't even enjoyed the show, but I somehow finished it anyway

Robot House

Since Star Wars seems of the table why not do a wrestling month? Theres tons fo Wrestling Anime. And you could do theme names like Heather Slam Campel,Matt Grappledoca, and Nick "the Wiger " Wiger

Kenshi

I have loved every minute of AniMAYhem and hope it becomes a yearly segment. Thank you for taking the bullets for us these past two weeks. Let’s just hope we get to end this month with something that is at least fun for y’all to watch. Although the last two weeks have been giving great “How Did This Get Played” vibes and I’m here for it. Having started the month listening while back home and now enjoying the past two weeks while my wife and I are on our honeymoon in Japan it’s been an absolute blast! I can also confirm for Nick that I have been unable to find any merch for Cosplay Complex, despite my wife constantly telling me to stop asking people about it. Thanks again y’all and keep up the great work of bringing up Star Wars and Jey Leno every week.

Gundam Victory's own shrike team has pilot named Kate Bush. Talk about wuthering heights!

How do yall think Chekhov would feel about being used in the phrase chekhov’s wardrobe malfunction?

Scott H [Hugizu on Discord]

If y'all don't continue to discuss Star Wars, I'm going to unsubscribe from the Patreon and block Matt on Letterbox. JK! Seriously though, what live action movie or TV series (that hasn't already been adapted) would each of you love to see an anime of?

ElephantSeal

Thanks to this podcast I started on my own anime journey as an adult having not watched much as a younger person, and have even started reading manga on Shonen Jump. So far I am up to chapter 70 of One Piece (looking at you, Nick) and am finding it much more enjoyable than the anime so far. Hope the last episode of AniMayhem delivers a banger, and thanks for the laughs each week!

Numlocks

I recommend Ahsoka for when you do Star Wars month

Murphy

Please do a Stars Month!

S

now you guys have to watch fruits basket as penance

LVN

Anime was indeed a mistake. Here’s hoping next week you all get one of those goofy isekai that seem like a mistake but end up being weirdly good, like Vending machine isekai or So, I’m a Spider, so what? Also: where the hell is Wiger’s Piece‽ I swear to god if Nick rolled off the One Piece manga, I will unsubscribe!! Tell us where you are even if it’s slow moving, please! Lastly: Challengers has subsex, not subtext.

Patrick M.

I listened to this episode in the car without seeing the show. Tried to watch it afterwards, it was so bad I didn’t finish it.

MechaHaunter

That episode was awful but I was surprised by the zone of enders reference. Mech with actual "cock"pits will always make me laugh.
