Glad to hear the Haikyu! Movie piqued Nick’s interest in the series - it’s one of my favourite shows in general, one of my no set rewatched, because the highs still get me excited, I love watching some of the climactic or cooler moments. Animation is ace, love the music! I adore it! Hope Nick enjoys it if he does go back and investigates. I didn’t to see the movie and loved it. It’s nowhere near my favourite match, but it is weighted more in the drama of the match-up. The sequence for the final point was cool as hell though.

I'm loving the current series, but I can't wait for the podcast to cover Mobile Suit Gundam: Blue Dog!

This is only the second Gundam series I've watched (Witch from Mercury being the first) and I'm enjoying it thus far. I have MSG: The Origin on my watch list, so I'll likely check that out when I finish this one. I am curious what Matt's reaction is to the latest chapter of Chainsaw Man (167). I won't spoil anything but I will say I couldn't believe what I saw on the last page.

One thing about Gundam, having now seen 3 different ones (Wing, Mercury and 08th MS Team), is they do love themselves a fancy dress party, lol.

Also I've managed to get my husband to watch this with me, which is really awesome. We watched ep 3 one night and ep 4 the next night. When watching ep 4, he asked "So just as a reminder, the Zeons are the bad guys, right?" And literally a moment later, they were all chanting "Sieg Zeon" ... we were like 😲

Loving 08th ms Team so far! I watched Origin when Nick mentioned it awhile back. Then Ive seen some of the original MSG. Ive never been much of a big robots guy so growing up I passed over Transformers, Gundam, and Voltron. Starting to think, maybe I was wrong? Gundam is awesome!

Is it weird that I would pay Karen good money to spit in my face and step on my throat?

I saw Scavengers (the pilot) 5 years ago and it will stick with me forever. When Scavengers Reign released on MAX with little fanfare I figured it's audience was basically just hard-core animation nerds. I'm hoping that with its move to netflix it will find more people.

I wish Heather and Nick were all caught up on Chainsaw Man because I’d love a discussion on Chapter 167.

I love how Zeon decided the path to independence free from tyrannical oppression was a bunch of Dukes and Dutchesses.

The Sides are located at real locations known as Lagrange Points - mathematical solutions to the three body problem of gravitational equilibrium points between the Sun, Earth, and the Moon. When looking at stable gravity locations between the Earth and the Moon however, the sun is sooooo far away that its effect is effectively a constant. The solution gives 5 positions of equilibrium where something can rest without using fuel to remain where it is. The L2 Langrage point specifically is located directly behind the Moon, opposite the Earth, and is where the Zeon Side 3 colonies are located. This is a really cool detail because of course the colonies that can literally never see the Earth would be where the faction rebelling against Earth based leadership originates.

Lol Scavenger's Reign has been requested/recommended for Get Anime'd by SO many people in the community.

Reco for Heather: if you like Showa, I highly recommend checking out "Okinawa" by Susumu Higa

Shart Carbuncle

I like hearing about Heather's insane dog.

Loving this. I only started my gundam journey last year, but it’s completely sucked me in. I’m glad to hear y’all enjoying it as well and hope Matt and Nick give more of the shows a try.

okamiki

I’ve seen a few seasons of Gundam throughout my years, but dang it Heather you have convinced me too! Before I started watching 8th MS team I binged all of Gundam the Origin and and was 1000% hooked. I looked up the U.C. timeline and have committed to finishing it! I’ve read and watched all of One Piece this in comparison will be a cake 😎

Michael Pemulis

So, Emma won't watch Gundam, but she'll eat Taco John's? Questionable decision making.

Lark

I had never watched a sports anime until you covered Blue Lock on the show, and enjoyed it so much I decided to check out more. Since then, due to Heather's recommendation, I watched Hajime No Ippo- all 125 or so eps. It rules, it's obvious why it’s classic. The second I checked out was Haikyuu since it was a current hit. I'm also up to date on it and saw the movie in a theater last week. It also rules, it's also obvious why it’s a hit. I may be sports-anime-pilled.

It’s been bothering me for two weeks now. I need to know the real word for “Klunt.”

After hearing Matt was going to show a Chainsaw Man panel to Heather and Nick I was terrified because of the timing of this release. Anyway really enjoying my first Gundam! Usually not a military fiction guy but this is fun.

So excited to hear Matt picked up Shin Godzilla and Godzilla Minus One! Absolutely love those movies and would love to hear the gang talk about kaiju movies (kaiJune next year or kaiJuly for the weeks after Gundam?). While Godzilla is definitely the gold standard, there are a lot of great Kaiju movies out there (I hold a soft spot in my heart for Gamara).

Tmacc

Man, the opening to 08th MS Team is an absolute BANGER

McStamper

I was excited to hear that Nick saw the Haikyuu movie, and I agree that it had zero onboarding. I started reading the manga because my wife and I love volleyball. Since then, our daughters have become hooked and started playing. Haikyuu is also responsible for increasing participation in volleyball clubs in Japan. https://screenrant.com/haikyu-popular-shonen-jump-manga-major-impact-japan/ Lastly, Gundam Month: Gundam-ber Gundam March (Look what Gundam did)

Brave Baboon

Listening to this pod while building my FM Gundam Aerial has been such a source of joy for me. Heather is right, Gundam is for girls and just listening to her gush about it makes me feel so seen. Love you guys. 🤟🏾

clearplastichuman

I re-watched Shin Godzilla immediately after seeing Oppenheimer and those two movies really work in conversation with each other highly reccomend a Shin Oppenheimer session.

LVN

I’ve seen 15~20 Gundam series (without any rhyme or reason to how I watch them), and this one has been on my list for a LONG time. Glad I’ve finally been given a reason to watch it. Loving it so far. My absolute favorite Gundam series that I’ve seen is Iron Blooded Orphans. I am begging all of you (especially Heather after she finishes the UC series) to check it out off pod, if only just the pilot! I think it treats the “child soldier” problem of Gundam with such terrific/horrific realism that it’s a series i haven’t been able to shake from my head since I first watched it (just 3 years ago!). Love Gundam, glad yall picked this one to watch!

Kayin, the one and only

Thanks to Nick for the Scavengers Reign shoutout. People need to watch it on Netflix, it's up to them to decide if it might get a second season now. It's, in my opinion, one of the most important works of sci-fi of the past decade.
