The Mountain That Abides

I'm almost caught up with Bluelock, and it's absolutely true the animation has taken a turn for the worse. BUT, Ive found it hasn't really mattered to me. I was drawn in by the tension of not knowing how a match was going to turn out, the hype of characters unlocking new skills, and the way the show always feels fresh by exploring different combinations of abilities and personalities on the pitch. In these regards, season 2 is absolutely on the same level as season 1.

If I had a Nickel, for every multiple hour long Gundam lore Video I watched an YouTube as preparation for the pod, only to find out, the creator was a women hating piece of shit, I'd had two Nickels, which isn't much, but that's when I stopped watching hour long Gundam lore videos on YouTube...

Andy Hunter

Haven’t listened yet (sorry, sorry!), but I did find Iria’s final resolution to be a bit odd. "I hate how this war has forced children to become soldiers. My solution: keep fighting in this war."

okamiki

Heather - your intro to the recaps gave me actual goosebumps every single time. You guys are all such goofballs sometimes I forget you’re such a talented writer. Bring this back the next time we do a gundam series!

Robot House

I think we're glossing over that Jay Leno is in a Final Destination scenario.

Robot House

Oh almost forgot Rick and Morty does have a Japanese dub so Heather has made people the world over laugh.

Rachael

Heather, I would like you to know that your obsession with Gundam has successfully Gundam pilled me and two of my friends this year. Thank you for your service. 🫡

Not related to the episode, but I didn't know where else to post I started watching a show that I think might be perfect for Heather, called simply, "Baki." It's maybe the most anatomically violent thing I've ever seen. Shattered bones, gouged eyes, severed nerves & muscles, all loosely based on actual martial arts techniques (until it isn't) It's like if Street Fighter, Tekken, Pro Wrestling, and Yakuza street brawling had a baby P.S. There's a guy so strong, that canonically, every time there's a new U.S. president, they have to re-up a non-aggression treaty with him (since Nixon)

FINISHED THE EPISODE AND ALL I HAVE TO SAY FOR THE NEXT THING WE ARE WATCHING IS LET'S FUCKING GO OOOOOOOO (in a Heather Ann Campbell voice)!!!

LagerB

What a great gundam show. The robots were cool and the war was tragic. 10/10

David Mucci

Pluto is the best show watched on the pod all year, unless we can count Laid-Back Camp. But, I will say this show finally got me to cave and start The Witch from Mercury.

Tmacc

We should watch all of Gurren Lagann for the show 😅 Also, it has one of the best openings of all time for SURE

Riley Snowdon

Can we admit requiem for feedback was better?

wjodendor

there's an anime called Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet that's similar to Waterworld but with mecha. One of my favorites, feels like old school science fiction. The first episode stands alone and could basically be an old episode of Twilight Zone or something.

i only want my news from Laciel Praymond

Sexy Grandma's Retirement Home

Off topic, but can I get the name of the song that was playing during Heather's Gundam news report? It sounded epic and I wanna add it to my collection.

Nicolas Tourigny

The singer' name must be Charles Aznavour which is a legendary french singer eho died at age 94 in 2018. Retro Crush is a retro anime channel which come free with Samsung Smart TV (at least in Canada). It shows great anime from my childhood like Astrobot and The Rose of Versaille. It even shows Anime for children like Yu-Gi-Oh! (This one is for you, Matt!)

Really dug the show a lot, but one thing always bugs me when I watch Gundam in relation of how the mobile suits are controlled. They move almost as fluidly as a human does when in action, but when you think about the complex motions the human body is capable of I struggle to believe that they can be performed while sitting at a control panel in a cockpit. At the very least I imagine the pilots frantically flipping switch's and pulling levers or whatever, but they're almost always depicted sitting pretty still. I find it much easier to imagine some sort of mind control interface or even a big motion rig like in Pacific Rim where your actions in the cockpit are mirrored 1-1. Has this ever been a point of annoyance for Heather or any of the other Get Played crew, or am I alone in this pet peeve?

Kayin, the one and only

Probably was told this already, but you all should do Arcane on the show, but 3 episodes at a time since each 3 episodes is a chapter arc. It's a 12/10 show.

XRedGambit

I need to watch more Gundam. I've now watched 3 series, 2 because of this podcast. 1 due to toonami. I can't wait for your pilot adventures. I really hope you watch Ranma 1/2 remake as it is just fantastic so far.

Luke Lamar

As soon as that child soldier was stabbed in the back at the moment he understood and empathized with his enemy, all I could picture was Heather kicking her feet up, puffing on a huge cigar, saying 'That's Gundam, kid'

Shane Phillips

Based on that Alvin Gentry story, it is now my headcanon that the term "buzzkill" is actually a reference to Buzz Aldrin and his famously dour attitude.

Adolfo Gonzalez

I know Heather compared Zeon’s war for independence to the American Revolution but I think maps closer to the Texas Revolution. A bunch of colonists who don’t like how the government is run revolt and turn out to be fascist. The main reason Texas wanted independence from Mexico so they can keep their slaves since slavery was abolished in Mexico in 1821. Sam Houston is Char

Have you ever talked about doing a Tiers of the Kingdom style podcast of all the anime you’ve watched for his podcast so far?
