I’m with Heather on Nicks time travel question. Nicks question is insane. That whole discussion made me crazy. In that one moment I finally understood both Heather and Mitch's frustration over the years. Wow.

i need to try that dean norris bbq restaurant damn

VHSMIA

Heather! I think it’s Event Horizon. Not time travel exactly, but the paper metaphor is used.

Nick gets confused!

Michael Pemulis

I think this is the closest we'll ever come to hearing a grown man get a wedgie, from his fellow hosts, over a misunderstanding about time travel, in a Pokémon movie.

Another leading theory about serial killers at least in the US, and why we are seeing major decline, is lead. We stopped using lead paint and leaded gas in the 70’s. So all those 70’s serial killers would have been exposed as kids or in utero.

Garren Glore

MVP of the movie is definitely Brock's Onix for remembering he's a 30 ft rock snake and skipping Tyranitar across the pond like a pebble. Heroes is pretty decent btw, this might be the worst of the movies so it's only up from here. The time travel paper explanation might be from the Haruhi Suzumiya movie when Koizumi draws the timeline split in the cafe

Nick not understanding time travel is very funny. I felt I was losing my mind as much as heather

Cheddar_Goblin

I watched this with my kid and asked her if she liked this movie when the question came on the pod. She said “yeah!” So at least some kids like it.

Zack Tennenhouse

Can confirm, kids like this. I had this movie on VHS and I'm surprised I didn't wear the tape out. I didn't like the third Pokémon movie as a kid but loved this one. Definitely opposite feelings as an adult, but Gen 2 has always been my favorite and it's still exciting to me to see all those little Johto region guys running around.

Sexy Grandma's Retirement Home

Nick had to be trolling with not understanding that time doesn’t pass for the person traveling through time. I mean he can’t be that dumb. I don’t remember him being confused when the people in Terminator time traveled and didn’t age. As far as the folding paper to explain folding space to travel through time goes, that’s a pretty common way to explain the concept. If I had to guess I’d say the movie Heather was thinking of is Interstellar. They use it in that movie to show how being closer to a black hole would change how time passed for different people from different perspectives. On the topic of Meowth’s design, I always assumed it was like those good luck cats that have a gold coin and usually put in business to try to bring good fortune.

Matt's wife's nightmare killed me. I laughed to tears

Godzooky Minus One

I hope Nick continues with the Heisei Godzilla movies, if only to make it to the spectacular Godzilla vs Destoroyah. Ghidorah is by far the worst in the series with the wonky time travel and android nonsense, but the next few are very solid and feature some excellent kaiju carnage. Once finished with those, I would recommend watching the excellent Gamera Heisei trilogy.

If we're getting tired of Pokemon, may I suggest going to the other side of town and hanging out with my boys Agumon, Gabumon, and Gatomon? That's right, Digimon baby, specifically the Digimon Movie! It's a monstrous amalgamation of three different Digimon movies edited into one film for America. It's got a bitchin' early 2000s ska pop rock soundtrack featuring many familiar favorites such as the Bare Naked Ladies and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. The Mons talk! And to add a bit of prestige to it, the first two films that make up Digimon The Movie are directed by Mamoru Hosoda, director of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars, Wolf Children, and most recently, Belle. Finally, if you're looking for fan service, all I can say is wait until you horn dogs see Gatomon's digivolution hubba hubba! Love you guys. Thanks for the pod. It's always one of the highlights of my week. Also, do Utena!!

I've never turned a corner on a movie so fast as I did at the ending reveal. Also, Nick getting confused about time travel was amazing.

Chas

As much as I love Pokemon and would happily watch every movie in the franchise with you guys, I think it might actually drive Heather insane if you did. Most of them aren't all that great from here on out imo...
