I’m just glad they were able to stop their nose bleeds long enough to finish and post the episode. Remember, lean forward not back. If you swallow the blood it will make you nauseous. Get well soon.

Seeing GQuuux in theaters while on vacation in Japan is one of my favorite memories of that trip. Hearing Char's theme got me so pumped

So, after reading about the original version of episode six in the comments last week I decided to track it down. I gotta say as much as I hate a clip show, they made a good call cutting out the scene where the little kid accidently puts his finger in Simon's butt. I wish I was joking and I really wish I hadn't watched it.

KidKimura

I reckon Hideaki Anno came up with the name GQuuuuuuX by letting his cat walk across his keyboard.

Geoff Kriz

Hey Nick…how often does the shower orange happen? Also…what do you do with the peel?

Matthew Siegel

It’s a shame the hosts couldn’t find the original episode 6. Thanks, Woke. I can’t remember if it’s only clear in the unedited version, but the booby/bunny girls are disguised as Gainax characters from Gunbuster, Diebuster, and even Evangelion.

Matthew Siegel

Rossiu is my low key favorite character in the whole show. Less because of how he acts, but more that he’s a character type I don’t think I’ve seen before or since; a person who’s tragic flaw is that he’s a realistic hero who cannot fathom/accept that he’s in a fantastical world.

Rachel Wery

My boyfriend is very happy that you're doing Gurren Lagann because it got me to finally watch it. I watched the pilot a while ago but was off my ADHD meds because of shortages and it was too overwhelming for me. I was able to watch the whole thing over a weekend now. When we watched episode 6 he pointed out that the bunny girls are other Gainax characters, I noticed Asuka and Rei from Eva and he said there was another character from an anime I hadn't watched so I can't remember what it was.

Zach

Ok, so here’s the thing with shower oranges that I feel like wasn’t talked about enough in the episode. The whole point is to be able to eat the orange like an apple without worrying about the juices getting all over you. It’s some sort of primal thing apparently. I’ve never done it personally. Also I love that Get Anime’d has turned into more of a food podcast than Doughboys.

BlueWRXDriver

Hell yeah matt, requiem for vengeance gundam is a fun build. Y’all MFs got me into it when the 08th MS Team ep hit the main feed for the holidays. Currently working on Char’s Sazabi suit, would love to see your builds over in the discord!

Heather's issues with cracking eggs and peeling bananas always sound like she has robotic hands and she's learning to use them. My theory? She does have robotic hands, and this is why she hated Violet Evergarden so much- envy that Violet had mastered the use of her own robotic arms.

Brave Baboon

Please cover GQuuuuuux when the rest of the series drops! I absolutely love hearing yall's Gundam takes. ❤️

The original episode 6 was a pretty hard watch. The horny guy/boy shit gets real tiresome ... the wall scene is way longer and the girls underwear are remote controlled. There's also this one gay guys are pedophiles hee hee haw haw joke that made me go "fuck you" out loud. There's lots I love about the show like horny worming through the air, but it went way past what was tolerable for me and I was just like enough.

Gamblore

The Clerks Animated Series is wild. It actually aired out of order. The first episode aired on TV was actually the 4th episode. So the clip show that aired as episode 2 flashes back to episode 1, that never even aired.

When it comes to an oatmeal cookie take out the rasians and add chocolate chips and now we're talking

Sj

When you eat your shower orange, rub the wet inside of the peel against your skin. You’re welcome.

clearplastichuman

I have an anime adjacent question-- what do yall think of the new Shrek footage? I know Matt is a Shrek head and i would love to hear his opinion. Love to yall, bye

Rory McDaid

I just saw Gquuuuuux at the cinema here in the UK this past weekend, and such a joy! Much busier screening than the one for Gundam Seed Freedom last year, where I had the screen to myself. But either way, the fact I’ve had consecutive years of seeing new Gundam in theatres is just not something I’d have ever imaged when watching Gundam Wing on Cartoon Network as a teenager in the early 2000’s, and pretending to friends that I didn’t like it because anime back then was seen as lame and I didn’t know anyone else into it. Look at us now!

Mezrus

The shower orange is completely justified. The sticky nature of an orange normally turns me away from them, but the shower resolves that. More foods deserve to be eaten in showers. One of my favorites is a shower taco, where you race to eat it before the humidity turns the shell soft.

Kyle

The original episode 6 is available to watch online but as far as I can tell it only exists with Japanese VA and English dub. There's a pretty good diegetic sensor bar gag. Also worth mentioning, Rei and Asuka (along with other Gainax characters) are a part of the bunny girls at the onsen.

Kyle

P.S. Tiger Wiger is correct to defend the shower orange BUT YOU MUST BRING IT SKIN ON. Half the point is that you get to violently rip the orange apart and devour it like Unit 01 eating that angel.

Chris Reyes

Is there still time to pivot the chain reactions? Tengan TALKIN’ Gurren Lagann

XRedGambit

Is this where we comment? Did Matt find me?

Kyle Caulfield

Having been aware of Gurren Lagann but never watching it I decided to follow along with the pod. I ended up getting a little ahead of you guys and just finished episode eight. Goddamn, what an episode of anime. Not only does the show now have me hooked, it also has me completely reevaluating the impact a drill can have on one's life. Wowee, we may have a five-forker on our hands.

I love Heather but her comments about Takoyaki I can't abide. Takoyaki is not soupy. I am not japanese but my wife is and I dearly love Takoyaki, I get it just about everytime I see it available. I have had frozen ones from the Asian market, fresh ones from restaurants, Asian food fairs, and some made by japanese family members. All that being said i have never encountered a Takoyaki that could be described as "soupy".

Luke Swisher

This show has the vibe of a random ps2/gamecube game that you stumble upon in a target and buy cause it's only $30. And I mean that as a compliment.

Morgster180

John Waters’ film Serial Mom is pretty close to a slasher about a Karen before the term was codified

alex Szabo

Hear me out... Shower peach.

Kevin Millhouse

There's an instagram page called bath foods

LagerB

Orange shower is a great idea. I imagine peeling it, dropping the peel into the hot water, letting that orange scent fill up the shower, messily consuming the orange while letting the shower water wash the sticky juice off at the same time. Sometimes life is beautiful.

parenthesesONE

Me to my wife who hasn't watched any other episode - "that's not just some random mole rat that he just picked up, that's a main character! He litterally bit his own ass off to save these guys and now he's just a dick sock!"

Rachael

A few years ago around the holidays, I had been working two or three days in a row on my feet for 10+ hours each day. When I got home on the final day, I got a bath ready, asked my partner to make Mac and cheese and bring me a bowl. It was the best decision ever to eat those warm cheesy noodles while I soaked my tired body in the tub. All this to say, I can get behind shower orange.

Bon

Thanks for covering Gurren Lagann! Gives me a reason to rewatch it again. It didn't occur to me until this rewatch that Viral is just an anagram for Rival lol.

Zachary Born

I love this show, and continue to enjoy participating in the boys’ journey though the show… Side note for Heather, there is a height that you can drop an egg onto your counter from that cracks it perfectly every time.

Ben Toomey

Malt-o-meal is my breakfast porridgy-thing of choice (I do a little milk, butter, and brown sugar).

BigGuy4U

After hearing Nick's emphatic recommendation I have tried the shower orange. While I did enjoy a little orange treat, what are you supposed to do with the peel? Peel the orange before getting in the shower? Hold the peel in your hand midshower? Sop water on the floor getting in and out of the shower?

Deacon Raid

I have a fun bug fact: if you have a shellfish allergy you should avoid eating insects because insects are technically descended from crustaceans and thus can trigger the same allergies as crab/lobster/shrimp.

Bobby

I love hearing about people eating in the shower. I have long been a fan of eating there and had to agree on rules with my germaphobic wife who finds my joy disgusting. I am limited in my consumption to three agreed upon foods that are all a delight and I would love to recommend everyone try. Citrus of course - oranges as mentioned but any will do. Peeling them to release the refreshing oils is great, but tearing a grapefruit in half and eating it like an insane person without worrying about the mess is lifechanging. Popsicles are a delight in a hot shower or bath Frozen or non frozen gummies and hard candies are delightful as well. Mix em with some shower water in your mouth for instant tepid fruit drink.

Isn’t Heather from Chicago? She’s dotting ketchup on her dog!?! 🌭
