I just went to Uniqlo this week to pick up some of the Gundam 45th anniversary merch - has Heather seen it? There’s a multi panel Gundam strike freedom one I really like, and a witch from mercury T that looks rad too. They also had an Evangelion shirt with the text of the full pilot initiation sequence which, of course, I caved and bought on sight.

Sexy Grandma's Retirement Home

As of this post, the first two dubbed episodes and the first subbed episode are also available for free over on Adult Swim. At least in the US anyways.

Jack Byrne

I will not stand for this. From the wookiepedia: "Salacious B. Crumb was known for his shrill, cackling laughter and sophisticated sense of humor" He's not dumb, he's SOPHISTICATED.

Matt needs to bring back his crazy AniMAYhem radio intro.

Lazarus was great, it was like Mirror's Edge but it didn't make me throw up!

Grant Prusi

This is an AniMAY, mostly due to time constraints, but it was good enough after the first few minutes I paused the podcast so I could focus solely on the rest of the episode. My wife even stopped what she was doing several times to watch the action scenes in full.

I hear and understand the understated complaints about Lazarus re: the greater animesphere. But its vibe is so good. Reminds me of those Adult Swim kinda slow anime I’d stay up watching. Remember Witch Hunter Robin? Ergo Proxy? Good stuff!

Axel better hope that Hapna drug is still around in 10 years. All that parkour is gonna take its toll on his knees

When discussing Lazarus and how cool the character movement is, Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo were both equally kinetically beautiful. And while I enjoyed the story of Cowboy Bebop, the only thing that kept me watching Samurai Champloo was some dudes moving really cool.

When I was looking for anime to suggest, I stumbled upon “Please Put Them On, Takamine-san” and almost suggested it based on description alone, but then figured Nick has probably already watched it.

After AniMAYhem, I can see Lazarus ‘rising’ up in my ‘to-watch’ list.

Zeon Liberation

Actually Star Wars is not the future or a different reality. It’s a long time ago, far far away.

Mark Pangle

Lazarus seems like something that is completely my shit but, I am not going to subscribe to another service to watch it.

Just have to say SNOKE = Darth Plagueis clone Jar-Jar = George W. Bush Salacious Crumb = COOL

Akiba Maid War: Nick, Think “The Warriors” gangs, but each gang is comprised of a different maid restaurant’s employees. Heather, There is so much murder…like a lot in the first ep alone…and it’s fun murder. Matt, All that other stuff AND the MC gang has a panda and each maid gang has a different animal theme. Also, the gangs are constantly doing animal puns that correspond to what their animal theme costumes are. It’s wild. You will all love it.

My recommendation for Animayhem: Soul Eater (2008)

Robot House

This is how I learned that Nick never allowed mature content on his Crunchyroll account. The version of Takamine-san I watched was not censored.

You know, I submitted 2 good and one meh anime for animayham, but after this episode, I think it would have been way more entertaining if I submitted something A LOT more weird. Lazarus was, like, too good

David Mucci

Not sure if this is the right place to bring this up, but I tried Coco Ichibanya on y’all’s suggestion and freaking loved it! There was one down the block from where I stayed in Kyoto that I never got around to trying, but after your recent recommendation I tried it out when I found myself in SoCal last week. One thing I will say is that I’m glad Nick took the bullet with the spice level 10, because sight-unseen I probably would’ve done something crazy like 15…6 was just spicy enough to be super enjoyable.

I've been listening to you guys for a while, and I'm not at all surprised that Matt recoiled and Heather is enjoying Fire Punch. I warned y'all that it was upsetting! Worth a read though, thanks for actually listening to my recommendation.

Sean Sakimae

They showed it during the opening credits for Lazarus- the fight choreography was overseen by Chad Stahlenski (John Wick/The Fall Guy). And yeah, it literally and figuratively kicks ass.

If you’re looking for an AniMEHem reset, some options: Kaiju No. 8 -MF Ghost -Hell’s Paradise (it’s pretty damned good)

Will cline

Lmao i was watching episode 3 when i got the notification that this was going to be the first AniMAYhem of the month.

Heather says she isn't creative then invents the anime Corpse Underwear...coming summer 2029
